Like any of mystery method, peacocking can only be pulled in a specific context. I remember him saying “if you can’t do it in a t-shirt, then you can’t do it” when talking about peacocking.

First of all you don't need to do peacocking to get girls. look around you and realize that the infinite majority of guys who can get laid, do it without dressing like a clown that seeks attention. This isn't directed at you, this si directed at other people who might be considering doing wierd stuff that they don't feel comfortable with.

Now if you are gonna still do peacoking, then it needs to come from a place of authenticity rather than performance. You dress not to perform or act, but because you genuinely feel like this suits your internal vibe, mindset, beliefs, and identity that's truly yours. Showing that you are truly comfortable in your own skin and aren't gonna apologize for it or get defensive about it.

When you are truly comfortable in your own skin, and someone challenges you, you can simply show amusement and owning yourself, doubling down unapologetically.

Her: "You are dressing like a wierdo" (A test to see if you are comfortable in your own skin)

You: "thank you, i love being weird"

Her: "why are you dressing like a clown" (Test to see if you get offended)

You: "Cuz the world is a joke, so no need to take it serious". "Someone had to stand out"

Her: "Your outfit is aweful..." (test to see if you take it personal and get defensive)

You: "You call it "aweful", i call it "ahead of it's time" or "i think you meant visionary"

Her: Why are you dressing like this? (not a concious test, as she is curious, but still a test)

You: Cuz i wanted to get your attention and it worked" (unexpected for her, creates curiosity)

The tone also matters, they need to be said relaxed, with a smile, a a playful tone, with a vibe that projects "i'm not mad, if you hate it or call me out on it". That vibe she will feel it if done right. If you carry a defensive, tense vibe, then you will fail the test and these answers won't work because the woman pays more attention to how you say it.

Really depends on the context.

I used to have a shark tooth around my neck on a leather cord. Was good... people commenting on it. Others just ignoring it (just an easy way for someone to make conversation with me). Then I bumped into some leftie hippie who went nuts over it (not in a good way) until her friends dragged her away.

Although yeah you could say that was peacocking, wearing something to get me noticed and give interested women an excuse to talk to me, normally when you chuck that word about, people automatically think you are dressing like Mystery himself.

So really depends on the context, how were you peacocking, where were you doing this???

Ultimately, I would ask you why you care, someone makes a negative comment about how you choose to dress. SO FUCKING WHAT. Ignore them. MAINTAIN YOUR FRAME
