Not only will you check it less, for every beep, whirr, and buzz, but you'll also automatically spend more time observing your environment and living in the moment.

This is especially handy for not jumping on replying back to texts or messages right away.. because your phone isn't even vibrating, or notifying you at all, when you do pick it up, you'll notice you have a plethora of messages to attend to, sometimes as old as an hour or more. I suggest setting it up so that calls come through, but all other alerts are muted.

This strengthens your text game by increasing reply time, while decreasing your penchant for overtexting or pining waiting for replies.

Helps to wear a wristwatch alongside this technique so you don't look at your phone for the time. Also gives you an excuse to buy a nice watch :)
