We're Not Trying To "Hijack The Narrative"

This is always so annoying and infuriating whenever you bring up the fact that men are also victims of violence and are victims of things such as rape, sexual harassment/assault, domestic abuse, murder, etc. and that there's women who do these things to men (as well as other women) and feminists come out of the woodwork to basically tell you to shut up and to stop trying to hijack the narrative of women sharing their experiences and when you bring up that men are also victims of women and to start your own discussion about this.

Words can't describe how much this pisses me off. We're not trying to take away from women's experiences at all, we just simply want it acknowledged and recognized just as much that men are also victims of these sorts of things because they are, and unlike female victims male victims have next to nothing in the way of resources and support. So few abuse shelters and healthcare clinics, almost nothing in the way of campaigns raising awareness of violence against men and it very rarely if ever being mentioned that men also experience sexual violence. We want both male AND female victims alike to be equally recognized and supported, and want it known it isn't just women who are victims and men as perpetraters.

Feminists will always cite statistics saying male on female violence is at "epidemic levels" when the statistics are too vague and don't take into account that so many men are still too afraid and ashamed to come forward out of fear of being disbelieved or their aggressor being believed over them. Not to mention the fact there's almost no abuse shelters at all for male victims and violence against men still gets counted as being against women under the VAWA. We want this to change because male victims have been long overdue to be helped and recognized as much as female ones, and also quash the stereotypes of men being predators out to get women when there's women who also commit despicable actions against both men and women alike.

It's beyond annoying and regressive how feminists always try to make the ratios of male and female victims/perpetraters into a contest of victimhood, which does absolutely nothing to help male and female victims alike. Is that all victims of violence are to these people, numbers on a spreadsheet? They sure act like it.
