This is a man really going his own way. Those saying it's depressing and to set sights higher are most probably the younger sort that still see success through an orthodox lens, some kind of validation seeking, stereotypical image of an alpha, that likes to lift, wear showy clothing, drive fast cars and generally be ostentatious in his presentation to the world, so they can lord it over others and say to women "look what you can't have.".
That's not to say those hobbies in themselves are any more or less worthy, I lift, however I don't sneer at what other's find fulfilling when GTOW. That's the whole damn point and anybody that feels OP is doing it wrong, or tries to slight him in any way misses the point and should ask themselves why do they personally think it looks depressing? Still plugged in are we? Some reflection on calling themselves MGTOW is in order I think.

Amen.
[–]felarel2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I completely agree with everything you wrote but I also think this photo looks kinda depressing, not because of legos but.... it just looks that way. lol.
[–]___Jamie___0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
yeah the photo makes it look bad honestly
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I really don't get all these lifting trend. Everyone knows bodyweight training is the single source of truth.

I was thinking about this.
Go to work, look forward to coming home again and working on Lego as a hobby. Shit, you can make some amazing shit with Lego.
And nobody can nag you about it.
Pure bliss.
[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My first instinct when looking at is was to think, "Legos? What a loser." I immediately chastised myself for this. How deep the BP river runs!
He's doing what he wants, causing no harm. Who the hell am I to judge? Yet I have been so conditioned that to see a man enjoying himself on a simple folly like this invokes a feeling of repugnance. Men must accomplish great things and sacrifice for others to achieve fulfillment!
I hate what society has done to me, man.
[–]aanarchist9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
i fucking loved leggos as a kid, when you finished the model it was such a feeling of satisfaction.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
To me, no model was ever really finished.

Sure

That Falcon is amazing.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Looks neat,nice one OP.
JUST DON'T FUCKING STEP ON A LEGO
God forbid you step on a Lego
[–]jebthecybersoldier0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's not THAT painful.
After the first few you start to build up a resistance.

I see you don't know much about nerd culture. This is a Palantir, the source of power of Bison, main villain in Mortal Kombat.

No, stop messing with my mind!

no offense but that pic looks depressing as fuck
Just remember, every time you get behind the wheel, on a plane, or any other marvelous form of transportation, it's guys with imagination like his that made it happen.
Just sayin'

I don't know why you are interpreting my face. I literally put my feeling in the title :)
[–]Numericaly73 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
There's nothing wrong with your face bro. I was just saying that from a photographers standpoint you could have framed yourself better, but also my point was that either way it don't matter because this isn't about photography but your cool lego thing and your feeling good.. Hope the rest of your week is just as positive. -gives thumbs up-
[–]Agamand[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thanks. I will keep the "full or no"-face rule in mind.
[–]MuscleCarz5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Brother, I hope you don't. Fuck that shit. Just do what you want.
Somebody suggesting/telling you to...
Go full-face or no face.
Doesn't need to smile.
Look a little more content...
All smack of completely missing the fucking point of what you were sharing in the first place.
Jesus, reading 1 through 3 remind me of annoying, petty shit my insecure ex girlfriends would spew when back-stabbing other women.
Just sayin'.
[–]Agamand[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's weird how much attention my half-face got. I will just keep in mind that a face might distract from your message.

[–]redchords9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Is it actually depressing? Or have men been conditioned to only respect activities which attract women?
[–]drqxx-5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It actually look depressing. If he was 3D modeling a part for a robot while smiling; he would appear much more appealing.
[–]redchords6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

$$$=attractive to women

I run, I lift, I own my own company.
I also have Lego just like OP.
I had a guy over to fit a fireplace for me. Hairy arsed builder, covered in tattoos. Spent a while going over my sets with him comparing what sets we both had.
Nothing depressing about it at all.
Do you also smile cause OP doesn't. Thanks for being a fellow entrepreneur.
[–]MrJugsMcBulge1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If it's a revolver made out of Legos, it would actually be pretty cool.

Sweet! I collect the large Star Wars UCS Lego. Most of it is now worth much more than I paid for it.
Just picked up the Ghost Busters Fire station.

That thing is huge! I woudn't know were to put it.
[–]victor_knight5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When I was a mangina, I might have thought such a photo depicted a pathetic man-child who couldn't get a woman. However, now, as a MGTOW, I have the sense to see that a man changing a diaper or a PUA making a fool of himself to average-looking chicks are what's really pathetic.
[–]IoSonCalaf4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I upvote any post about Legos. They'll always be awesome!
[–]soelc34 points5 points6 points 10 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
I have nothing against any hobby that a man might choose to immerse himself in, but I fear that this is going to end up being posted on shitredditsays or some other anti-MGTOW site. Men face an enormous amount of social stigma for any hobby that doesn't fit the narrow definition of success tied to our gender role (athleticism, resource provision, etc.)
[–]Agamand[S] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The hole point of MGTOW is to not care about the social stigma that an activity you like will bring. If you think about it, it is female stigma. Every man I showed my collection found it awesome.
[–]soelc32 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sure, but the OP might not want his face plastered all over the Internet.
Unless, of course, somehow he end up gaining a lot of money for his lego models.
[–]csehszlovakzeThe Hungarian0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
so fucking what? if they want "evidence" to show that we're losers they'll just make some.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women's hobbies are buying useless shit like shoes that they will wear once a year. Men's hobbies are building shit and getting shit done. I see nothing wrong with this picture.

Rock on with your bad self.
In one of the SW extras they said the model for that ship was made from the cover of a street lamp, which I can never unsee. You can even see that in this lego version (especially since it's in the position it would be as a street light).

Nice. I used to love Legos, especially the Technic sets. I'd love to get back into collecting them, if they weren't so bloody expensive.

I recently realized I missed my LEGO collection that I used to have, so I went and bought 3 different lego castles and a minifig army and a pirate ship. Something like 900 bucks of Legos. I'm tempted to get into Hirst Arts molds. You basically cast little stones out of plaster and glue em into castles and such.
[–]Ephriel0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The hirst arts stuff is legit. I use it for models (I play a lot of wargames, and build dioramas).
Have a handful of their molds and they're absolutely awesome.

Good for you. Yet I'd recommend a more practical hobby, maybe like cooking (always helps), lockpicking (you don't know when it'd help), repairing old stuff, etc. But this is also good, for your brain.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, Lego is really fun - like the Steak(TM) of creative outlet type hobbies. Best to have a few practical hobbies too, just a recommendation of course, we're each free to do whatever we like, that's the whole point of this sub!

I didn't look at this thread before because the thumbnail looked like it was just a photo of some pile of clothes in the corner of a living room... and I though "Oh, typical bachelor pad. Just dump the laundry anywhere." Big deal.
