Adam Lanzas parents divorced when he was 17. So he did have a fathers influence. And at that age he would have had some say in which parent he would go with - provided daddy wanted HIM.

Mother won $240,000 a year in alimony and child support. She had issues with paranoid ideas, he was autistic and isolated. He was of age to step into independence, but that would be quite a challenge... Maybe she wanted to keep it that way, and confine him against his will. Disability means child support doesn't end.

I agree with the gist of the article: you don't produce such people but you can with poor parenting ignore the warning signs and allow them to do things like this.

Had she sought mental help for her son it's possible all this would have been prevented. Likely even.
