These articles about women violating men and assaulting their genitalia are always peppered with little quips, cute puns, play on words (“the fella will think ‘twice’ next time!” presumably once for each of the testicles she cut off) etc etc. Accompanied by an image two kiwis being cut off a banana and an “ouch!” Always this undercurrent of mirth to it.

Maybe, just maybe, the cultural delight in depicting men being kicked (punched, stomped, grabbed, hit with a baseball bat) in the genitals which is non stop has something to do with it. Not only is it almost always there but I notice it’s almost always in the trailer. Gotta make sure the people know “don’t worry, it will be there”

These weren’t ‘unprovoked’ attacks though- the man from the second article secretly filmed a video of him having sex with his girlfriend and then posted online, which is probably why he declined to press charges because he also committed a crime and probably didn’t want to risk her filing charges against him- he probably figured he’d rather neither of them being in prison than both of them. Additionally, this is a quote from the article and it doesn’t seem to be taking a tone of any sort of “sexual glee” or admiration/respect/etc- “The awful, uncalled for revenge now means that the bloke has to use a tube to pee, and his penis will never work again - although he's facing an operation to attempt to restore some use, he's just thankful to be alive and isn't pressing charges.” These weren’t cases of random acts of violence from women against men, but obviously, this is not the appropriate way to handle any type of situation and it didn’t seem like either article was trying to validate the actions of the women, and at the very least, the second article explicitly went against that narrative
