It's not domestic violence because she's a girl.

[–]atred 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

the victim was a girl though.

[–]civilsaint 56 points57 points58 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh no. In that case, we blame patriarchy.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women being affected by toxic masculinity and acting out violently like men do.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When I read the title that a woman was arrested for domestic violence I thought that's bullshit, but it was because of course her partner was a female, that's the only way that could have happened, what a fucking joke.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not domestic violence because Amber is innocent until proven guilty.

[–]GIfuckingJane -5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How would you feel if you personally saw a woman being abused in front of you? What constitutes as abuse?

[–]civilsaint 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That was meant to be sarcastic.

Mutual Combat - in DV cases 70% of women are aggressors - 40% mutual aggressors and in 30% Unilateral aggressors - the same figures also apply to men.

So a person who has a history of DV Perp marries a person with no history of DV either as perp or victim and now we have that person being listed as the Perp and the Perp as the victim.

What do men experience when attacked?

Table 1. Types, Frequency, and Prevalence of IPV

Type of IPV Percent who Experienced Average # of Times It happened in Past Year
Minor Psychological 100.0% 62.1
Severe Psychological 96.0% 27.8
Controlling Behaviors 93.4% 39.8
Insisting on Sex 41.1% 3.9
Minor Physical 98.7% 31.6
Severe Physical 90.4% 15.1
Very Severe Physical 54.0% 4.0
Minor Injuries 77.5% 9.7
Severe Injuries 35.1% 4.6

WHAT HAPPENDED DURING THE LAST PHYSICAL ARGUMENT? We asked about the last physical argument that took place between the helpseekers and their female partners. The majority of men reported that in the latest instance, their female partners had hit first (93%), and in response, the male helpseekers:

Males Response When Female Partner Hit First %
Attempted to get away 85.4%
Yelled and Cursed 62.8%
Called Friends/Family 45.3%
Cried 29.8%
Called Police 28.3%
Grabbed/Shoved/Pushed/Hit Back 19.5%

During the last physical argument, according to the reports of male helpseekers, the female partner was more than twice as likely to have been drinking than the male partner (26.2%; 11.5%, respectively).

Given the known patterns and statistics and that Heard has a known and reported DV History and Depp does not (and even has past family saying loudly he does not) in all likelihood this is all a case of mutual Combat with heard the Instigator due to her internal and life long motivations.

Did Depp abuser her? I looks likely, but what is not being talked about is did she abuse Depp and if so HOW? That is not attacking the victim, that is investigating a crime scene and checking all evidence to see what has happened.

I do believe that Heard is no innocent and have to ask just one question. When it became clear that the marriage/relationship was doomed..... who was the driving force behind the 1 year wait time to see if it could all be fixed?

I'm no betting man, but I'm betting of that person being Heard. It's what long term abusers do so that they can retain power and control over their target whilst giving of the "imprimatur" of being the victim! Depp has no associated History, but Heard has.

Worthy of a post, in and of itself. Very nice.

I'm not a betting man anymore, but I'd stake my soul on Amber being an abusive person prone to violent outbursts who never had her "accountability circuits" properly wired.

She reminds me of someone.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Interesting how women usually hit first. I wonder how much of "mutual combat" is self defense...

In retrospect, I should have left out the second sentence altogether since it is getting some traction.

It's definitely being mentioned on The Guardian. NOT!

That's sickening. Despite all have seen and heard of feminism and our media I can't believe they aren't reporting this. Can you even imagine the reaction the genders were reversed? They'd be laughing at Amber openly saying she was violent herself so what goes around comes around. Not to mention saying she is an adult who knows how to use her feet and walk away if she is so victimised.

Feminists scream about how women are the physical equal to men. Then in the same breath, conveniently ignore that they are able to leave bad partners and are not little babies who need governments to hold their hands to be able to find the front door and simply walk away. Its what men are expected to do every day. Turn the other cheek and walk away.

low self esteem bludgeoned into them by the ghastly matriarchal culture in which we live.

That would certainly explain it in the case of men like Depp, who aren't exactly ugly nobodies living in a trailer park and eating government cheese.

[–]neveragoodtime 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Let's not forget, crazy is literally throwing themselves on his dick. He is surrounded by crazy women who will do anything to get their hands on his money. The crazies crowd out all normal women from his presence. He gets to a point where he accepts that all women are like that, and may have picked her because she seemed the least crazy of them all.

[–]Il128 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is very, very, very difficult to get a woman charged with domestic violence. Unless she does it in front of the police or there are TWO witnesses or a recording the man is going to jail.

For these stats to look this way, it'd absolutely incredible. Think about it.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Imagine if Depp was.

Game over.

Amber, this one's for you...

[–]McFeely_Smackup 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

she was arrested for "grabbing her girlfriends arm"?

How does a woman manage to get arrested for that?

[–]NJBarFly 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If you grabbed a woman's arm, shoved her or touched her in any way, you would be arrested too. They use the loosest definition of assault to justify arresting the man in domestic disturbances, regardless of who's at fault.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

let me rephrase it: "How does a WOMAN manage to get arrested for that?"

[–]Imnotmrabut 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

With great difficulty ..... especially when white, speaking English and articulate..... let alone with designer gear.

I've been looking for the arrest records and mug shot to see if any more details can be gleaned. ... but I only found this:

Heard ended up being nicked for misdemeanor assault in the fourth degree/domestic violence, Cooper said.

However, in November of 2011, the police received a request to delete the arrest information on the case and as allowed under Washington state law, it was then deleted from the system, ....

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It happened at an airport. At airports there is a lot of security and they are very quick to stop any kind of altercation.

[–]arosebyanyother_user 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

An arrest is not a conviction FYI. I do not think we can judge this idiot and false accuser based on an arrest.

I was falsely accused, arrested, tried and found unanimously not guilty. That is why I became an equal rights activist.

So this hits a bit of a nerve with me.

[–]InvaderDem[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No intention of hitting a nerve, I just wanted to point out some hypocrisies:

  • I think the media was pretty lenient on reporting this. Even now, a search for Amber Heard has older articles intermingled with the DV reports. If it was revealed that Depp had the history of DV, the media would have gone insane and it'd be headlines everywhere. That being said, I wish I only posted this with the first sentence as the headline.

  • Second, had this been a guy who had a history of DV, this probably would have eliminated any support he would even have. Whether she is lying or not, she has a documented history of violence; so it makes sense to question whether Depp expereinced that violence that her ex also experienced. In your case, you were deemed innocent; I think her case was just dropped.

While I'm more inclined to side with Depp because of how Heard is attacking him; I'm not going to say one way or the other who the guilty person is. That's why this stuff should go to a trial. I just wish people would stop saying "we're making the victim the villain!" when that is automatically done in false accusation cases - where the victim, who may be innocent, is immediately painted as the villain - name, mugshot and all.

I'm glad you were found innocent. It's scary to think that having a male prove his innocence on a false accusation is such an uphill battle ...

What?!!? Lol.

Surprise surprise.

Are we allowed to acknowledge the pattern here?

[–]SpikeNLB 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well at least now we know when she started developing her 'playbook' so to speak.

"Depp has no pre-nup" figures

[–]InvaderDem[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, he has to live with that mistake. He's old enough, he should have known better, unless he legitimately doesn't care.

[–]pajamajoe 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not like they actually hold much water, especially in LA, anyways.

[–]52576078 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wonder if Heard's ex-girlfriend has spoken up in her defence, like Depp's ex has in his defence?

[–]InvaderDem[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So far, it appears that she's been quiet. Can't blame her though, I'd hate to be lumped into this fiasco.

But you're right; it's interesting that she's been quiet when Depp's ex has stated that DV does not sound like something he would do.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here is my shot in the dark on this.

Amber Heard is a bisexual woman, but likes women more for emotional intimacy and men for only occasional physical intimacy. This is not all that uncommon.

She meets Johnny Depp in casual circles - wants to fuck him (curiosity, notoriety, status, etc...) so she does. Johnny gets caught up because a young starlet 20 years his junior with bisexual tendencies just rocked his world in bed. He wants to lock her down. Johnny is rich, famous and very much used to getting what he wants - and he wants Amber Heard.

Hey what a deal for Amber Heard! She get access to Depp's wealth and fame, plus he's doing all the pursuing so it's not much work for her.

Meanwhile, she never really broke it off with her former female partner as they remain "friends". Basically lives a lie being with Johnny while being emotionally committed to Ms. Van Ree. Depp is in love. She is not. This runs its course until it becomes blatantly obvious to everyone in Depp's personal circle that she's just using him. It comes to a head. She has a history of violent behavior so my guess is she either got physical with Depp and ended up with a little temporary red mark under her eye in the ensuing tussle, or she just flat out made the shit up. Either way, she's going to leverage it as much as she can to extract the biggest payoff possible for her and Ms. Van Ree in the divorce.

Meanwhile Depp's former partner and mother of his children defends his character.

Makes me wonder... Did Depp make a mistake ending it with a woman who truly loved him - who to this day still has his back? Admittedly I don't know enough for that answer, but from a far it seems possible.

One thing is for certain - I think he was a fool for wifing up Heard. He should have known better - should have kept her as nothing more than a spinning plate and then dissed her off when she demanded more. 50 years old - already has grown kids - why the fuck is he getting married for? Why would any man in this day and age get married unless children and family was the goal. I know Heard is young enough for kids, but I'm not getting the settled down mom vibe from her. Depp was dumb.
