I think one can be against the state outlawing all abortions and still not be 'for' abortion.

[–]Cool-Studio1841 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep i think that the state shd'nt make it illegal but also shd'nt promote it i think abortion is highly immoral

[–]umockdev -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the way.

While I personally am against having an abortion, outlawing it does not make sense. Just because it's not allowed does not mean it doesn't happen. Same with drugs.

It should be allowed, but there has to be much more effort invested in root cause analysis. That would mean better sex education, easy access to contraceptives, mandatory counselling before getting an abortion, better support for young parents, more options for daycare, parental leave, ... just to name a few.

[–]Lasttoflinch 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Largely depends on circumstances.

[–]Gries88 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m not for abortion but I don’t think the government should outlaw it...

[–]duhhhh 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

WTF is this bait? What does "for" and "against" mean?

I am for abortions... For female rapists? (Most states that have laws to prevent rapists from having child custody rights have gendered laws that only apply to rapist fathers.) In order to limit climate change? (People are a leading cause after all.)

I am against abortions... Based on gender? (You know those tweets about going to the doctor to find out if she is having a girl or an abortion?) Based on race? (Black people are a minority in America. We shouldn't let them have abortions so they reach population equality! That is woke-anti-racism, right?)

It's all vague and inaccurate. How about a "I support the right for women to choose in the first two trimesters and gender neutral legal parental surrender rights"? That is clear to me.

[–]tenchineuro 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My opinion is that abortion is not a constitutional issue, it's up to each state to regulate it (or not) as they wish.

[–]Kwen_Oellogg 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

I think abortion should be legal until the age of 18...

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

And after they turn 18 you can't abort them anymore?

Cutting it off at the 72nd trimester seems a bit lax.

[–]EmirikolWoker 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

Just so's we're clear, because you have a track record:

Are you interpreting what was said as "killing children should be allowed until the child's 18th birthday", rather than "if the mother is under 18 abortion should be legal, but not after"?

Normally I'd interpret what you said as a joke, but you have a habit of making some pretty spectacular leaps, such as describing criticism of looser laws that disproportionatly imprison men while not covering women offenders as wanting to make abuse legal, and calling anger about false rape allegations "defending real rapists".

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

It was an obvious joke based in ambiguous wording.

And calling someone out for saying this is acceptable. Everyone should call that person out.

The first link you posted was a admittedly loaded question that was probably unfairly phrased. Though I don't have a problem with laws against misogyny.

[–]EmirikolWoker 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

It was an obvious joke based in ambiguous wording.

From anyone else, yes.

And calling someone out for saying this is acceptable.

Before we talk about that, is this you conceding that you do lie and misrepresent others here, such as in the examples I've linked?

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I didn't lie or misrepresent anyone. I asked a question that was unnecessarily loaded. A question can't be a lie or misrepresentation. Those need to be statements.

[–]EmirikolWoker 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

A rhetorical question can be. And you make a lot of those, then pretend you're not doing what you're doing by flat out lying and hoping whoever reads it has forgotten how English works.

You are a habitual liar and a gaslighter, and you lack the spine to concede when you're caught out.

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Well, you'll have to provide proof of a lie for me to agree with that statement. My post history is public, help yourself

[–]EmirikolWoker 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You have described criticism of looser laws that disproportionatly imprison men while not covering women offenders as wanting to make abuse legal, and called anger about false rape allegations "defending real rapists" as well as comparing anger at false rape allegations to anger at people not caring about ones feelings.

You also described criticism of the gender sentencing gap as just mean(ing) more criminals on the streets, then flat-out denied you said that less than 12 hours later, despite the fact that anyone can look at the comment thead and see for themselves.

Cherry on the cake, you claim that you never lie.

That took about 30 seconds.

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. None of those are lies. Just things I said that you don't like. I'm sure you understand the difference.

I get your upset that my opinion is different than yours but just claiming I lie seems kind of childish.

[–]42nanaimobars 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That reminds me of the book “Unwind” which I read in grade 9.

[–]Kwen_Oellogg 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, in some States it should probably be legal up until 21.

[–]xx_DEADND_xx 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Abortion should be an option to people who have been raped etc but whenever a law is made people love to exploit it

[–]tenchineuro 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Well then any woman wishing ab abortion will simply say they've been raped.

Ask Roe of Roe Vs Wade about that, she wanted an abortion so she lied about being raped.

[–]xx_DEADND_xx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly my point

[–]A55PHAT_respectfully -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And clearly it’s none of your business what someone else does with their body

[–]tenchineuro 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The issue here is not abortion, but lying about being raped. Innocent men go to prison for lies like that and their bodies are greatly affected. But this entire argument is an exercise in criminal hypocrisy.

[–]pincheloca88 -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Kinda had to since she couldn’t get one. Imagine having to go to great lengths just to get a medical procedure?

Also no man was falsely accused. She just gave that reason to a hospital.

[–]tenchineuro 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Kinda had to since she couldn’t get one.

She kinda had to lie that she was raped? Are there any situations where it is inappropriate for a woman to lie that she was raped?

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How do you "exploit" abortion laws? If ppl keep having unprotected sex, who cares? If a woman would go to such lengths as aborting to spite the father, the potential child dodged a bullet ....

[–]AnFGhoster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

IF that were the only way to get an abortion I feel the amount of false rape accusations will skyrocket.

[–]Hesitant_Evil 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't have sex, so I don't care!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don’t understand how some MRAs can be against abortion but also be for signing off ownership to a baby. What if the woman doesn’t want the baby either? I guess it really falls down to the situation on where you are for and against abortion.

[–]63daddy 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do not promote abortion, but I do not think it should be illegal.

[–]TheProclaimed99 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would say yes but only if both parents agree (in writing)

[–]SporkTornado 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This poll oversimplifies things. There are a lot of people out there who think abortion should be legal. But late term abortion should be highly regulated.

[–]A55PHAT_respectfully -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The fact that men are even polling on women’s rights to their own bodies - just another reason men shouldn’t have rights

[–]Shortwawe 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

the offspring is separate entity not your body

[–]A55PHAT_respectfully -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Everyone should have rights for removing whatever they want from their own body

[–]Shortwawe 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you remove the child without harming it then sure , however that usually isnt the case

[–]ReasonableSignature7 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Men shouldn't have rights? Sure about that? Human rights apply equally to everyone, you either believe this or you don't

[–]A55PHAT_respectfully 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s a joke, but it’s also a joke that men have any say on if a woman should be able to have an abortion.

[–]TextDependent6779 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

agreed! men don't have a say.

so now RvW has been overturned, there's no reason for us to bother with regaining your abortion rights. right?

[–]Rockbottom503 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's more complicated than that.

I'm against the current system, whereby only a woman gets to choose, after the fact, whether she becomes a parent.

That said, I don't want a situation whereby children are knowingly being born to parents with no desire to care of them.... Although I guess in the long term that's easily avoided as attitudes change when women are placed in a situation where these acts have real consequences.

[–]ReasonableSignature7 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So there's no real consequences for men in these situations?

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This implies our opinion is valued.
