One of the most common "neutral" suggestions we get on PPD is that we should include some sort of guide in our sidebar.

I was wondering if the users here could put together a little guide post that will be linked in the sub. In this guide post, think it would nice to have four components:

  1. An introduction to TRP. A shortish paragraph of neutral language including a short history and a statement of goals.
  2. A reaction to TRP. A shortish paragraph of neutral language including why TRP is debated.
  3. An introduction to TBP. A shortish paragraph of neutral language including a short history and a statement of goals.
  4. A glossary. You should include a single word and a single definition with neutral language in one post. We're not assuming anything is true or false here. "Hypergamy" is something TRP claims women are prone to. "Rape culture" is something some feminists claim exists.

If you have any additional suggestions, write up a segment, give it a title, and explain why it is you think it should be included in our guide. Alternatively, if you think we shouldn't have a guide at all, please explain why you think that is.

I'll put this post in contest mode. In a few days, the mods can examine the top submissions. All the mods are going to have to agree with this for it to get posted, so make these suggestions good. If you do good work, we may decide to actually put this thing together. Alternatively, it could fail miserably and nothing will come of it...no harm done.

EDIT: If we can't get a good intro to TRP/TBP (I strongly suspect this will be the case), then we'll just stick with a glossary.
