There is a cult-like devotion to RP, and contrary to what is often stated, it is emphatically not a way of explaining social dynamics, it quite strongly advocates controversial things. Thus, from my experience, RPers tend to see things in black and white terms, without any apparent recourse to the fact that life and human behaviour is complex and full of grey areas.

And I'm just talking about the reasonable RPers here, many of whom I like, who come on here in a regulated environment. I'm not talking about the clusterfuck of idiots on the actual RP board.

Because if you're going to spend time in the 'RP community' be prepared for a horrible, bitter, hateful, spiteful, misogynistic, just generally bigoted atmosphere, that is ultimately extremely unhealthy. It's like the worst locker-room in the world, with none of the athletic ability.

So many aspects of RP theory are utterly tenuous and based on absolute sophistry. Yet RPers will come on here and defend every single aspect of the RP to the death, even in the total absence of any evidence. And even after evidence is produced for the contrary view, it doesn't change their perspective or opinion in the slightest.

What in fact occurs with most RPers is that they find the board when they're in a traumatised state, and their traumatised mind is more suggestible. They thus uncritically swallow all aspects of the RP. It's also comforting to be part of an ingroup, so they hang around on the RP board egging each other on to ever more ridiculous beliefs and statements. They then come to identify with this mindset and mentality, and are thus resistant to often well-meaning attempts to deprogamme them.

For many RPers, the so-called anger phase merely morphs into a deep-seated bitterness, and they never, ever overcome it. And the MGTOW board is arguably worse. And don't tell me that RPers don't advocate MGTOW, because they quote RP ideas all the time (although I couldn't spend more than two minutes reading that board, as it would quite obviously be bad for one's mental health. I have skimmed over it out of morbid fascination).

I'm fully aware that some of you will state “we don't advocate MGTOW”. I am simply saying that is one of the end results. Other common end results from RP are hatred, misogyny, a total lack of stable relationships, and quite often even a determination to have nothing to do with women whatsoever because they're always apparently on the verge of divorce-raping you because they supposedly want someone more alpha.

And there is this utterly irrational and completely disproportionate focus on what happens in school and college. At least it seems disproportionate, but obviously this is part of the traumatised state that many people arrive at the RP board in. They didn't get what they wanted when they were younger (neither did I, so I know what this is like), and seem determined to then fixate on this for the rest of their lives and base all of their future life choices on this rather immature environment.

Those that don't focus on that have instead had some relationship go wrong at some point, and equally arrive in a traumatised state. They then convince themselves that absolutely all women enter into relationships for some sort of cynical reason, with a conscious intention of screwing the man over financially at some point. Instead of dealing with the feelings about their failed relationship in a sensible and constructive way, which would be the mature and evolved thing to do.

This is why most people don't want to go down the RP road and tend to draw negative conclusions about it. Most people want to have an enjoyable life, travel to pleasant places, go sightseeing, have a wife and kids, share things with loved ones, eat nice food, join the local golf club, raise a family, essentially live the life that is described in the novel of Trainspotting.

Now I'm cleaning up and I'm moving on, going straight and choosing life. I'm looking forward to it already. I'm gonna be just like you. The job, the family, the fucking big television. The washing machine, the car, the compact disc and electric tin opener, good health, low cholesterol, dental insurance, mortgage, starter home, leisure wear, luggage, three piece suite, DIY, game shows, junk food, children, walks in the park, nine to five, good at golf, washing the car, choice of sweaters, family Christmas, indexed pension, tax exemption, clearing gutters, getting by, looking ahead, the day you die.

Okay, that's a cynical take on it. But that's what most people want and that's what happiness and stability comes from.

It doesn't come from bitterly musing on how all women are childish bitches, who can't help fucking you over due to their total lack of loyalty, and thus you should avoid all committed relationships and try to fuck them around instead, never seeking any intimacy or connection, but instead treating everything as a zero-sum transactional game in which someone wins and someone loses. Just because you got hurt when you were younger.

That is not the road to fulfilment or happiness.

Personally for me, I think I've learnt a few things from being here, and it has been ultimately somewhat beneficial. I would say ultimately I am red-leaning, although I strongly differ from the views of RPers in many ways.

But I can separate the wheat from the chaff, and fuck knows there's a lot of chaff. Many guys cannot. That is quite evident to me from having spent time here.
