So I just got back from a pretty chaotic night in Miami and I wanted to write it out because I’m still processing it.

Earlier in the day I went to a beach volleyball meetup. I didn’t know anyone there. I literally just showed up and started talking to people. The group was a mix of people from everywhere. Brazil, Italy, France, Caribbean, random tourists, etc.

Honestly that part actually went well. When we were just playing volleyball and hanging out, conversation felt easy. We talked about travel, work, where people were from. At one point we were doing pull ups at a little outdoor gym area and joking around.

It was low pressure and natural. Nobody cared about status or anything.

Then later that night I went out around the club area.

Completely different environment.

Way louder, way more chaotic, everyone trying to flex money or look important. I still talked to a lot of people though. Met some guys from New York quoting Godfather lines, a photographer who was showing me his $7k camera setup, random groups of girls visiting Miami, a guy who had a table at Eleven, a bunch of streamers.

Some interactions were good. Some were awkward. I noticed something interesting though. When I was relaxed, conversations flowed. When I started overthinking, my body language would close off and people would disengage.

One guy literally told me I just needed to chill and stop caring so much.

Then the night took a turn.

I ended up in a strip club environment around the nightlife area. I had never really been in that kind of place before and I didn’t understand how the system works. They keep escalating things and charging you for everything.

Long story short I ended up spending about $2400.

Yeah.

Two thousand four hundred dollars.

And the weird part is I didn’t even enjoy it. My body was basically checked out the entire time. Even though the girls were attractive I felt nothing. It just felt transactional and empty.

I remember sitting there thinking this is actually kind of depressing.

The girls are just doing their job. I get that. But the whole interaction is basically a script. Flattery, escalation, more money, repeat.

Afterwards I walked out feeling kind of disgusted with myself and the situation.

Not because of the women. They’re working. But because I realized I wasn’t even there for the right reasons. I think part of me was just lonely and looking for validation.

And that’s exactly the type of mindset that makes you easy to milk in those places.

So yeah. Expensive lesson.

But I did learn a few things.

The volleyball meetup earlier in the day felt way more real than the nightlife scene.

When you’re doing an activity like sports, conversation happens naturally and nobody is performing.

In clubs everyone is kind of acting.

Second thing I learned is body language matters more than anything. I could literally feel when I was relaxed vs when I was tense and the reactions from people changed immediately.

Third thing is if you walk into environments you don’t understand, people who do understand them will take advantage of you.

Miami nightlife is basically a machine designed to extract money.

Right now I honestly feel like if I came back here I would skip the clubs entirely and just do daytime stuff. Sports meetups, gyms, beach activities, normal bars where people can actually talk.

At least then the interaction is real.

Anyway I’m curious what people here think.

Have any of you had a similar “expensive lesson” early on?

And for people who go out a lot, do you think daytime social environments are actually better for meeting women than the club scene?
