Has 2X always been this mix of Tumbler and SRS, has it changed since it became default or am I just noticing it now?

Hi, 2XC. Since this thread's getting a fair amount of attention, I'd just like to take this opportunity to explain a few things around the situation from an admin perspective that I think it's useful for people to keep in mind as this topic continues to come up.

I mostly just want to urge people to not take everything at face value. There are a lot of people that seem quite invested in trying to get the mods to remove this subreddit from the defaults, and unfortunately that means that they're willing to try to cheat, lie, and do various other unsavory things to influence this decision.

For example, the OP of this thread was using at least 5 alternate accounts to attempt to tilt things in here, including upvoting their own submission and supportive comments (and they've now been banned from the site for that). There's generally just a great deal of attempted manipulation going on around the topic of 2XC being a default, between people attempting to manipulate votes, using multiple accounts to post comments supportive of their side, organized groups brigading relevant posts, etc. Some people have even been performing what's often referred to as a "false flag", where even though they're actually normally a contributing member of the subreddit, they've been creating alt accounts to make or upvote harassing comments/messages in order to make that issue seem more prevalent than it actually is.

And on the topic of harassing PMs, one of the most frustrating aspects of the situation from our perspective is that there's been a significant amount of lying on this end. We've received quite a few reports about users who have claimed to have received a large amount of harassment, but when we investigate we find that they've often never received any PMs at all, or only one message when they claim to have received many. Some people have even gone so far as creating alts to PM themselves with, so that they can take screenshots for "proof".

I'm certainly not trying to say that there hasn't been any harassment, because some definitely has actually occurred (and please report it to us by sending a modmail to /r/reddit.com if it happens to you). But between the various outside groups trying quite hard to push 2XC out, the false flags, and the lying, please take all claims about it with a large grain of salt.

Just to be clear though, we'll be perfectly happy with whatever decision the subreddit eventually makes about whether to remain a default or not. We definitely like having it as a default (which is why we asked the mods if we could include it), but if they decide they've changed their mind, that's great as well. I'd just really like to see that the decision is made honestly, instead of as a result of all the manipulation going on around it.

No, it was much better before becoming a default. It was far and sway the best woman oriented subreddit and actually reasonable on most things. Making it a default brought in a wave of trolls. Now it has become a battleground for trolls and srs types which make it the horrendous black hole it is today.

Ive been a lurker on reddit for about 6 years now. Never had an account. Never needed one. For the first time ever I have been compelled to register and log in to reddit in order to keep from seeing twox posts on the front page.

Stories about standing up to "scary men", chants of superiority due to simply being female, complaints about guys being creepy. Ridiculous that such a skewed biased subreddit is default. SRS truly has their claws in the admins.

I mean, even /r/twox themselves dont want to be default and I cant blame them. Annoying. Stupid. /rant

2X has gotten a lot worse over time. It used to be alright. Now it's just SRS-lite.

It's certainly changed, I don't think there's much doubt about that.

But it's a simple change: this is just a group of fairly typical women just doing what typical women do. They talk about typical women's concerns and share typical women's viewpoints.

Then one day, someone has thrown open the windows and now everyone can see what typical women do and say. And that's an uncomfortable experience since what typical women do and say together is composed almost entirely of fear, hate, anger and whining in roughly equal measures. If you think that's unfair, please read that sub and a selection of women's magazines.

Their actual complaints are simple: they want to stop people seeing what they really do and say, and from disagreeing with it. That's all they mean by "trolling", "devils advocating" and "mansplaining". They just want to be left alone to do typical woman stuff without anyone seeing and to be honest if I behaved like them I wouldn't want anyone to see it either. Whether that should be allowed is the only question.

TwoX has always been a very reasonable and fair minded place whenever I've looked at it in the past. I can't speak for any recent changes however.

It's only been two weeks, so there isn't that much to go on. 2x was a wonderful sub and I quite enjoyed it. It was feminist leaning in a good way. There was enough radical feminism before that I would be very cautious in how I spoke, but people generally talked sense and women's issues are indeed very real. The feminism of the place seems vastly amped up and more radical now. It's much more polarized.

There is intense static though- a huge amount of meta discussion is constantly happening now and it's hard to see the true nature of the sub through it.

I'm very interested in the mod report that all the talk of PM harassment may be a false flag. There was so much of that talk I was really wondering if it could possibly be that bad. I have to get some female friends to sign up and post and see what happens.

I still don't like that it is a default... if reddit wants a place to discuss gender issues it is sexist to make a female-centric space to do that and if they want more women on the site, adding one explicit women's sub (~2% of the default space) is a terrible way to do it. If they want female subscribers, make the front page look more like Pinterest, don't just add 'token girl character' to the show's lineup.

it used to be quite moderate and I was fine with it but like any sub (including this one) it's gotten worse as it's grown. over there there's more gender rights people than there used to be and here there's more bitterness towards women than there used to be

Has always been like this. They hate men, if you mention being a guy they pile on you. They try to conceal the agenda, same as troll X, but it is the same as SRS.

Always been a shithole, but it's certainly gotten worse since the Admins chose to embolden SRS by making one of their lesser subs default.
