I for one would like to send an email to the administration to berate them for their apology. What they should have done was called out your neighbor on her bigotry and told her if she doesn't like equality in the work environment perhaps she should enroll her children in a bigoted care facility.

My two year old son goes to an all female daycare, I've never seen a man there anyways. But at church there is one guy who is usually running his sunday school, along with his wife. He jumps out of my arms to him when I drop him off, which is very unusual for him. And I'm very grateful for him to have more positive male role models in his life, as I'm not sure there will be any left in the coming years.

I was a male daycare "teacher" for a year when I was about 20.

I had a genuine complaint from more than one parent who stated that my voice was "too deep" and they didn't think it was right for the children to be around me. I absolutely had no idea how to respond.

I was also not allowed to hug the children/let them hug me. I don't think any of the daycare workers were "officially" allowed to hug the children, but I was the only one who got tapped on the shoulder and told to stop.

I don't even like kids that much, but do you know how fucking heartbreaking it is to have to forcibly stop a child from hugging you? Poor little buggers were mostly from broken homes and they hugged the female teachers all the time, but when I was the primary employee nope; go cry in the corner, kid.

Ended up quitting that job due to some non-gender related bullshit. Didn't even get to say goodbye to the kids.

edit: i was not going for kindergarten, but the thought of teaching pre-teenage kids made me uncomfortable.

You need to go to that school and show support. donate or volunteer in some way. This is a shitty situation that can easily be helped with support for the daycare. 20 bucks says the daycare is hurting for money which is why they were apologetic in fear of losing a client. let them know that they are not only welcome to have a male caretaker but that they also have support from the community for making that decision. honesty. Just complain on here is great for venting but it doesn't help much.

Is she a single mother? Sometimes I think they're afraid other men telling their sons the truth about them. I remember when I was a little bit older and a man came to tell me my mother is nothing but a loose whore. I couldn't believe it and was crying that someone could say anything like that about my mother. Then gradually I started to notice it over the years. Even at the time she would love other boys just as much as me and sometimes more. She had been having a new man in bed nearly every day. They weren't just friends playing cards, she'd been telling lies. That man had been right; it was the sick truth. That man was our neighbor and I later stumbled upon him again. I told him he was right all those years ago and thanked him for telling me the harsh truth that was the elephant in the room with everyone else.
