What the fucking fuck? Why didn't the "heroine" in this movie just take her lawyer/social worker's ass to the police or court for withholding her welfare check from her?! Or am I missing something here? The whole premises just falls to pieces into a pile of shit with just this point alone, but aside from that, I wouldn't consider it 'just and fair revenge' if I kept going back to some rapey douchebag time and time again then decided to sodomize him/her.

Lisbeth was not acting in self-defense. It was a premeditated attack that was definitely rape. I feel bad for Lisbeth as a character, but no one should be following her lead.

The womyn who found that scene heroic and entirely justified reveal a lot about themselves.

They show that all their talk about men being evil because men are prone to such acts are merely projection. They aren't opposed to such things, they just wish it were easier for them to do.

They want to do all the worst things they accuse men of: being violent with no repercussions, raping at will to show dominance, and completely disregarding the law because meh.

They don't have a problem with any of those things per se. They have a problem with their biology making them ill suited to carry them out. Which is why they get such visceral joy from seeing other women act these things out in a fantasy.

They are in other words mentally ill.

Feminism focuses on fictional scenarios because the numbers do not support their victimhood fantasy. This scenario is a very rare event in the real world. In comparison to the scenario of someone making false claim against a lawyer or cop for revenge, which is a very common scenario.

One day, some "empowered" young woman is going to make the mistake of attacking a guy who is actually violent. I feel sympathy for the poor cop who has to take that call. I might even feel a small amount of sympathy for the "empowered" woman.

I tried reading the first book in the Millenium series, but it was too hamfisted (in language) to be readable in Swedish. Any translation (or other rewriting) must be an improvement.

They (the books) are what I like to call feminist-porn; something to give women the belief that they live in constant persecution, and should hate and fear all men. The men portrayed are generally either weak and pointless people or monsters.

It seems to me other swedish authors are (now) using the same "world"; a sweden which (in spite of its high marks in gender equality) is in reality a hell for women. I guess it sells well.

The wheat of this article (as opposed to the chaff that tastes almost like defending a fictional rapist - it's a fictional character, so we know he's an evil bastard and even the most liberal of us can take pleasure in his deserved comeuppance) is this part:

“I argue here that feminism can benefit from more fully incorporating women’s physical aggression as a way of challenging men’s domination and women can benefit from seeing physical resistance as a possibility.”

This is encouraging violence in reality on the basis that it was satisfying to read about in a book, and that is fucked up. It's important to remember that as satisfying as it is to read about such a thing, in reality the correct course of action is taking this overwhelming evidence to the police.
