I was just about to suggest an e-reader. The old "look up every word you don't know" works much faster when you have the built in dictionary.

Vocabulary is one of the harder things to master in English. Once you have a sufficiently advanced vocabulary, you will notice more of the connotations and selections change depending on the feeling one wishes to give the reader. Word choice a very nuanced part of English (and most languages probably); it very much sets the tone. Especially in written English.

The email in question was written very much from a cooperative, friendly tone, but I am sure plenty of adversarial toned emails were sent as well. Those will include more absolute sounding words, with plenty of more negative sounding words. It would read more as a threat than a suggestion, unlike the posted email.

Why do people feel the need to do it in the first place? That's like me saying, oh you got brutally beaten up in the streets? You're now blind in one eye? Well that's a shame, but remember men are more likely to be beaten in the street.. so you're probably less important right now, I hope you understand if we focus more on the men who get jumped.

Oh you experienced police brutality? Man you're lucky you're not black!

You got shot? Well that sucks but people are being shot everyday in Syria!

A victim is a victim, it doesn't matter if they're not the main target! Or the most likely to be a victim of a particular crime, they still deserve the same amount of support. It also doesn't matter that men are most likely going to be the perpetrators, saying he deserves less support because he's more likely to be a rapist is just fucking man hating in general.
