My friend just had her baby recently. She was talking about finances, when the topic of the kids circumcision came up. She was talking about how expensive it was, (only $150? really?) and how its going to be such a burden.

I then ask her why she even needs circumcise him? Why not let him be? She replied with the standard "oh it will help him in the long run" comments, like how it will help prevent infections, is cleaner, etc.

I say this: "His ears can get infections too if he doesn't keep them clean. You aren't removing those are you? Additionally, it will boost his sexual experience, and from what I hear, his partners will enjoy it a fair bit more as well." (she is a fair bit promiscuous, as one might infer seeing as she is 19 and has a kid....My attempt to play off her own vices/personality.)

"Whatever. I'm going to get him circumcised anyway because I want him to be."

Update:: Unfortunately, All my best attempts to persuade her have failed. The circumcision was scheduled for this morning, 3/09.

She is going to go through with it because she wants him to be. No necessarily because it is whats best for him.

I'm not going to talk to her anymore.

I don't much talk to her anymore. But seriously, this kid is going to lose part of his manhood because of the whim of his mom.
