Green aliens landed in Chicago and rounded up 1479 math teachers. The bloodthirsty aliens then sucked the blood of 828 teachers and left them for dead. The aliens tied up the rest of the teachers and marched them into 3 UFOs. If there were an equal number of poor math teachers in each UFO, how many teachers were in each UFO?

I am sure if it got rephrased, it would be OK.

Tooth fairies came to the wedding of a prince in Chicago and called together 1479 wedding guests. They gave roses to 828 guests. The fairies then took the remaining people into 3 enchanted caves to give them dandelions. If there were an equal number of guests in each enchanted cave, how many guests were in each cave?

Remember: the teacher was DISMISSED, not reprimanded, nor warned. Would not have happened to a female teacher putting up the second feminized version that is probably boring to boys.

My 3 friends and I were caught and tied up by 1023 screaming cannibals in a jungle last night. Soon we were feeling terribly itchy because of the mosquitoes. It doesn't really seem appropriate for 3rd grade, but something like that would probably be good for 6-10 grade actually. Would at least be more interesting.

I couldn't view the video, but from the article it sounds like the teacher was, in fact, using poor judgement. I mean, yeah, those questions might make learning math more interesting to some older kids, but to teach them to 3rd graders just seems like an obviously bad idea. I didn't find any comments about it being "boyish" or masculine. The guy really did seem sort of stupid for taking children's education guidance from an obviously offensive source. I'm sure he was judged harsher for being male, but he really did bring the heat on himself.
