Um... This isn't common in my area of the United States (or at least among the people with whom I interact). If a 40-year-old woman makes sexual comments about, say, Edward from "Twilight," then most people tend to give her weird looks and avoid her. In fact, it's hard not to feel like a creeper when watching the "Twilight" movies because the male characters tend to spend the majority of the time shirtless.

What's missing here is that women talk with other women about this stuff, and guys talk to guys, never the twain shall meet. Most older women would be embarrassed to mention their crush in front of men, and most men wouldn't mention wanting to nail jailbait to women.

ok i was with some buddies and some girls at my dorm yesterday watching the oscars. we were having fun and all. then they had best supporting acctress and showed the girl from true grit.

now honestly she looked waaaaaay older than she is (like 14 or something like that). we assumed she was around 17 or 18 and us guys commented that she looked pretty good and was bangable. buuuuut then we found out she is actually 14...... Gender is only part of the issue. The biggest point of contention is that as men age, they gauge success on their career, finances and the hot, young women they get. As women age, they gauge their success on what kind of man they married and settled down with.

A successful man gets whatever he wants regardless of age or looks. What a successful woman eventually settles for is inversely proportional to her age and looks, so naturally she become jealous and fearful in the presence of 'young and pretty'.

A woman that doesn't NEED a successful man is a dangerous thing because it levels the playing field too much and turns the tables. She cannot be had by an affluent, old man.

Must be a Euro thing or something. Here in America, it's not only pretty acceptable, but expected that guys are into girls under 18. Hell, a number of years ago, an 80+ year old Bob Dole was ogling a 16 (or at oldest 17) year old Britney Spears in a Pepsi commercial during the Super Bowl and he wasn't called a pedo.

Hell, I watched the Last Song with the girlfriend despite knowing the pattern of every Nicholas Sparks book-to-movie ever just to check out Miley Cyrus. I don't mind telling the truth.
