In his book "Freakonomics" the economist Steven Levitt claims that sexual assaults occur to 1 in 8 women in their lifetime, not the 1 in 3 that's so often claimed.

1 in 3 women claim rape, maybe. If you talk to them, most of their "rape" stories are something along the lines of "I didn't know it was rape at the time, but after speaking with my friends..." or "I was 17 and he was 20, I was raped!" or they just regretted it afterwards and claimed rape. Of course some women are raped, but often times you'll find that it's not really rape at all.

As for the claim that men are paid more than women, well, I once heard a smart lady say that if that claim were true why would companies even bother hiring men? The truth is, as was pointed out to me, that men tend to work longer hours and take more risks which accounts for the higher average pay stats.

That would mean that 1 in 3 men were rapists, and that if she believes 1 in 3 womenr were raped then she must believe there's a 1 in 3 chance you are a rapist...so...why would she risk talking to any man if there's a 1 in 3 chance he is a rapist who will pounce her and rape her?

The claim has always been a lie, it is pure unmasked bigotry and sexism against men.
