I don't know how many people seriously take it this far. I think it's more like an opportunity to "flip the script" and make a point about violence against women.

Police in Australia used to give this sort of safety advice as a matter of course after an incident occurred, but now they get so much backlash they've stopped that. The backlash got its own backlash when a female politician here announced that "men should stop raping women".

People also pointed to what they perceived to be an inconsistency - that apparently safety advice was not given after incidents involving male victims.

Hopefully sensible safety advice is still being communicated to everyone somehow.

One of the main problems of modern feminist rhetoric is that it tells women that they have 0% of the blame for ANYTHING that happens to them. Yes rape is mostly the fault of the perpetrator, but if you take no risk mitigating measures then you are putting a target on your face. If some obvious tourist went to a brazilian favela wearing bling and he gets killed everybody would say "he asked for it". But if it were a woman though? Not her fault whatsoever.

This is a bit what happened to those two danish women who got beheaded in Morocco. They followed stranger men in the mountains far away from any civilization, the risks was insane, so while most of the blame is on the men, taking risks and being punished for it is something that people must be scolded about. Because in some cases, like the case of those women, sometimes you just dont come out of it alive.

This was pointed out in an article I posted about the failure of VAWA to reduce domestic violence, but because Women initiate 70% of domestic violence, lead in domestic violence reciprocal and non-reciprocal, and the most injurious domestic violence occurs *when both partners are involved* on average - the most effective and responsible advice to reduce domestic violence is to tell women to stop hitting their boyfriends.

It's not just a threat to ideology though, it's also about money. Money for victims rarely ends up in their hands, it goes through grants to courts and fees to Lawyers, middlemen social workers who are almost certainly feminist women stealing funding from victims, non-profit capture, etc. It also overwhelmingly helps female victims, most of whom aren't even victims, to the exclusion of male victims.

My biggest problem with sexual violence is that most of it isn't sexual violence though. The actual rate of rape for Men and Women is slightly over 1%. Yet you have politicians, 501c3 corporations, and stupid people repeated "1 in 5!" at the top of their lungs. That's taking 19% of the population and telling them they have an urgent need to feel traumatized. It's literally in the best interest of these people to traumatize society.

They can't make money on practical advice, only in brokering profitable victim identities from political power.

Seems to me like someone who isn't a misogynist would actually want to give women advice that might prevent them from being raped. But you know, that's just me, an entitled incel with weird fringe alt-right political opinions.

I'd really like to think this is nothing more than pure naivete. That they honestly believe that A) rape is common (as feminist organizations say) and somehow also that B) "teach men not to rape" really works. But it really seems like there is a concerted effort to actually make women more vulnerable.

Convincing people that something you want them to do is actually a benefit to them instead is an effective tactic, especially when that thing goes against their best interests.

Imagine you're a skeevy, sex-crazed guy that wants to take advantage of women. You can't compete with good men, so you even the playing field by convincing women that ALL guys are jerks like you. Then you pretend to be on their side by telling them "you have a right not to have to worry about protecting yourself". Now you have women that are being less alert, letting themselves get more intoxicated than they otherwise would be, wearing more revealing clothing, etc. In other words, they are easier prey. Normal and good men don't need any of these things because they're confident (perhaps falsely) that they can win women over with their genuine heart and personality. I feel like that has been forgotten.

My motto is, look to who benefits from something, and you usually find the person that orchestrated that thing.

If by some stroke of luck I ever have kids and end up with a daughter, I'm going to tell her "Look, I wish this was a utopian world where you could walk down dark alleys while drunk with revealing clothing on, but this is not that world. The amount of men that will hurt you is small, but they do exist, and there are simple steps you can take to greatly reduce that risk".

The problem is that so much of society is buying into the idea that "enlightened" hookup culture = female empowerment that they won't even consider the argument that it might actually be a detriment to women and will instantly brand anyone that voices it a misogynist.
