I'm a 21 year old woman and I've been told to just dress however I want. I'm not sure it's that simple.

Some context: It seems to me that a woman's outfit can greatly influence what kind of men approach her and why. I'm a Christian and my goal is to be married someday, so I want to my image to attract likeminded men in these regards.

My main concern is colors. I generally feel uncomfortable wearing many colors, especially in combinations... and I avoid bright colors almost entirely.

I feel most confident and comfortable in black but I'm worried about the way it might affect my image. After all, I want to be feminine, traditional and approachable.

So these are my questions:

  • Do you think colors in clothing affect how men perceive women (especially potential partners)?
  • If so, how does this work with the color black specifically?
  • How can I style my outfits to counter any negative stereotypes that come with the color?
  • Do you have any suggestions for colors that compliment black while contributing to a feminine, traditional and approachable image?
