The CBC recently wrote an article about how a woman scientist's article was allegedly unfairly deleted from Wikipedia. The deletion happened in 2014.

What about women who lie about being on birth control?

[–]antifeminist3 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is still legal in California because the law is specific to condoms. So women lying about birth is legal; men lying (stealthing) is illegal.

And feminism is about equality.

I'm not surprised by this, but I really just don't get how they limit it to condom removal. Either have the law apply to "misrepresenting and tampering with birth control & STD prevention" or don't have the law at all.

[–]Eoasap 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You know why! Because that would paint women as perpetrators and that's impossible to feminists.

Why include natural, genderless language when you can force it to be a gendered issue to make it where men can get sent to prison but never women, even if both do the same actions- deception about fertility goals/results

This will further inflate the false stats they love to push that men are all evil criminals and women are always innocent victims.

Similar to how they qualify having a penis required to rape someone, then say "If women rape men, why do men commit 99% of the rapes?" well... you defined the action where it's impossible for women to ever be convicted. I don't even think they include it when women statutory rape children. They explain it as 'having sex with' or somehow paint the adult woman as a victim.

People on the r/news thread were defending it because it’s only about stopping std’s apparently. Suddenly it’s not about consent so lying birth control is okay.

Cant have women being jailed. Way too much ideological impact :V

[–]sleepyJoeBidet 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bravo for making it illegal. But they should include purposefully sabotaging a condom.

[–]mug-buliku 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What about making holes in condoms?

[–]Rubberrobbb 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Surely some sassy lawyer will come up with the argument that poking holes is removing parts of the condom in a similar manner as doing it entirely.

[–]denyjunctionfunction 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No doubt they will. But will the courts allow that argument to stand? Idk. Will probably be seeing a few cases going to their highest court in the coming years.

The author of the law is Cristina Garcia, who is something of an authority on sexual misconduct herself:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-cristina-garcia-investigation-complete-20180517-story.html%3f_amp=true

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The article says "Assembly officials have ended the investigation into his complaint without finding any wrongdoing."

They found no wrongdoing by her. Why is she an authority on sexual misconduct?

[–]PeonSupreme 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I’m sure it was a totally objective, unbiased investigation.

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I don't think assuming she is guilty when the investigation found no wrongdoing is alright.

It's certainly unacceptable to do to a man.

[–]PeonSupreme 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don’t find internal investigations to be very reliable.

[–]LegalIdea 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Agreed, but either we have a presumption of innocence or we don't, you cannot have it both ways

[–]PeonSupreme 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well we kind of do actually, which is the point of my post. I didn’t make the rules. I’m just commenting on them.

[–]Ok-Efficiency1842 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because it's not like we have a prison overpopulation problem or anything.

Why is nothing done about this? Why do we allow feminist to fill our prisons with innocent men? Isn't prison overpopulation a problem? Don't we need to criminal justice reform? Wasn't that why we burned down all those targets and autozones?

Fuck this shit.

[–]DigitalisEdible 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I just don’t understand stealthing. Why would you intentionally risk getting someone pregnant and opening yourself up to tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in child support payment over the next 18 years? Are men really doing this, and why?

What about women who don’t take the pill?

[–]abstractbull 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lots of women can't and don't take the pill. But if they lie about it, that should be include in this type of law.

I'd like to give a shout it to removing distinctions between dpousal and non spousal rape. No reason to distinguish between the two in terms of definition or punishment. But the article send to indicate there are still ways they are handled differently.

[–]simpledub 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]reddut_gang 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
