Might it be time that we explored the intersections of masculinity and homosexuality, and the unique experiences of gay men worldwide?

Research has already told us that gay men are less accepted than gay women in all countries studied.

Whilst FBI statistics show that gay men are by far the biggest targets (62%) of sexuality based hate crimes – targeted six times more than lesbian women.

In Canada it’s even more shocking. Gay men are not only the primary target of sexuality based hate crimes (80%), but Canadian men are the main target of all hate crimes, be they based on race, religion, disability, occupation, political beliefs or language.It’s an incredible fact, that goes against conventional wisdom to shift the very tectonics of gender politics itself.

So what is it about the rigidity of male gender norms, that makes gay men so widely vilified?

Why do we patronise and fetishise gay women, as a mere “phase”, or a naughty taboo, or a harmless sexual innuendo, whilst gay men are seen as abominations to humanity?

There are interesting questions, yet to be asked, and to explore them we should start by turning back time, to when gay men were uniquely persecuted by society, less than 100 years ago.

As a gay person, this post is immensely, immensely welcomed, and exploring the intersectional aspects of gayness, homophobia, heterosexism, heteronormativity, etc., and how they affect gay men, bi men, other men who are attracted to men and or other men who have sex with men, and people who were assigned male at birth and identify as gay and have romantic, sexual, and or emotional desire or relationships with men, I have to say that I found this all very interesting.

It has always frustrated me how swept under the rug the gassing of gay men during WW2 has been throughout the teaching of history.

Although I’m not an expert on the topic. I have anecdotally noticed that in some homophobic communities, they largely don’t care about lesbians doing their thing and if they do, the punishment or social shaming is much less severe then in the case of how said communities respond to gay men. I always sort of had this intuition but this information kind of confirms it for me. Men’s right are gay men’s rights to! And human rights!! 🏳️‍🌈

Edit: also, not trying to say lesbians/women don’t experience struggles in the form of homophobia, sexism, bigotry, etc. just saying it seems clear that homophobia seems to effect men more.

Hell I’d even argue a lot of misandry out there, but not all, intersects with male homophobia. So many insults and slurs for men is they are gay and not masculine.

I believe in Jewish law as well, being gay is not allowed but being lesbian is fine.

That's so sad I'm thankful that gay men don't have to go through such horrible stuff know in canada our America(yes they still face bigotry and other problems but it's no ware neer as bad as it was in the past)

Even stranger when you consider that homosexuality is not only tolerated it’s openly accepted in all male environments like prison, the navy etc

the idea that most male do not play with their p-spot is truly retarded, not only is it a core part of straight male sexuality, but most women show zero interest in male pleasure and it is a potent example of the empathy gap.
