Are men able to tell when women have make up on?

If we can't tell you have makeup on then it's almost guaranteed you don't need it.

If you have had to point it out to your dates then a number of things are possible.

1) the sheer subtlety of your makeup means you don't even need it. 2) your date is interested in you as a person and not your looks. 3) he has poor eyesight.

it's possible they felt like the subject of their dates physical appearance was high risk and they chose to avoid by simply saying "I can't tell you're wearing makeup".

what possible upside would there be to saying "yes, I could see you are wearing makeup right away".

As a kid, every girl I knew wore makeup so much I literally thought that's what girls looked like.

My family also had very fair skin so naturally, my mum and sister didn't need makeup.

If it wasn't for 1 girl when I was about 14, I probably wouldn't have realised till I was like 16/17 when my sister started getting low self esteem thanks to bullying and started wearing makeup.

Now she won't leave the house without it... -.-

And no, I knew makeup was a thing. I just assumed it was only used for like special occasions like my mum used it.

I think it's because we are so used to seeing a lot of subtle makeup that it seems normal.

When a lot is worn, yes it's obvious, but subtle makeup is hard to spot a lot of the time, and is where the argument of makeup being deceptive comes from (not that I subscribe to that idea tbh).

If the makeup is not done right, it's visible from a far. It requires practice. It also depends on the exposure of white LED light. If you are in front of a camera and there too many LED flash around, it blends in. This is why makeup is not really visible in movies. Their makeup artists spend hours to perfect it.

I can tell when they don’t have it if they wear it the all the time. I asked a coworker if she was feeling ok once. Turns out she just didn’t have her make up on. I felt horrible, but she took it well. So I guess I can’t, but if you always wear it all the time and then take it off I may notice. Lesson learned though.

My daughter asks me sometimes if I like her makeup and I don't know what to say cause I can't tell she's wearing any. I can tell if the colors are really dramatic or something but if it's subtle I just won't see it.

It's noticeably that the vast majority of women dont have a clue on how to apply makeup properly, which results in it being very noticeable even at a distance... 😉

In the few times I've been down a You Tube rabbit hole, and come across one of the millions of make up tutorials, most of them are just a huge comedy of errors and so funny to watch. They do nothing for the women in the video, let alone for the women watching them...

As for men not noticing the make up, is that what it's really for??? Is that what the men you 'date' want to notice about you? That's what we men call a 'red flag'. A huge red flag...

My wife of over 20 years almost never wears makeup, so I can tell pretty easily. Also, since she only does so occasionally when she's going out to a party or for dancing with her friends, I know the occasions when she would wear makeup.

Now why she would wear makeup when going out with her female friends is another question, as she's not out to pick up guys.

They can tell but they say that to make you feel better (that's what I do idk about others)
