How to cut my hair to exude femininity

Out of respect for my husband, I ask him how he'd like my hair to be. I'm not one to really care and he says he loves my long hair. I would ask your husband what he thinks, explain how you currently style it day to day, and ask what you should do. I'm sorry if this is unpopular opinion, just my experience. My husband appreciates that I listen to his thoughts.

It really depends. My sister has gorgeous red hair and she always wore it long, recently she cut it into a lob with a fringe/bangs and it totally transformed her. The whole hairstyle highlighted her delicate features and she looked much more feminine than she ever did with long hair.

I'm the opposite, I look better with my hair longer and I feel much more feminine when it's longer too. It's easier for me to style and maintain when it's longer and just works better with my features and dress sense.

Tl:dr: go with what would work best for you :)

Imo, Long hair is almost always more feminine (there are exceptions obviously, but rare). That said I generally prefer it also because it's a sign of good health as well (longer hair usually requires you to be more healthy to start with).

I personally look more feminine with shorter hair, as someone who has been on both sides of the coin. When my hair was long, (past brastrap length and even waist length) it dragged me down. I’m very petite, my body and my face, and it was just too much hair. The hair itself looked scraggly no matter how well I treated it and it looked thin because of how heavy it was.

I recently got my hair cut just above the shoulders and feel more feminine than ever. I think the key is to make sure you have hair framing your face to avoid the tomboy look. For me, that meant a few face framing layers, curtain bangs, and a money piece for the highlights I get so it all frames my face. I think shorter hair almost always looks better on smaller women because long hair is just too much. So it depends on your bone structure and overall look.

That’s going to be a question for a skilled hairstylist. Some women have the bone structure to look like Audrey Hepburn with very short hair, others are better off with long layers. Completely depends on the woman. Talk to your stylist about your bone structure and what you can afford to spend (time and money) on maintenance. A well-cared-for lob will make you look more feminine than messy waist-length hair. I got fooled by the RP male preference of waist-length hair and found myself looking like a sister wife, just braiding it every day. My hair looks better at or around shoulder/shoulder blade length. Maybe you’d look best with a lob.

I think it rly depends on your features. The idea of long hair always being feminine is definitely a myth, my face looks very harsh, angular and masculine when my hair is long, and a short hairstyle with bangs helps balance out and bring out my more feminine features. Best case is id see your face shape, your cheekbone placement, your kibbe type, etc. also experimenting!!

My answer is: "try". Try what? If you like lob, try it. I'd go against radical changes, but I indeed find changing looks very feminine. Yes, men's prefer long hair in women, but I think what we really want is 'different'. Women with short hair look feminine if you can distinguish them immediately from men (through make-up, clothes and other things), and women with long hair look unfeminine if they can't easily be distinguished from men (clothes without shapes).

I was recently in a long college ceremony with hundreds of women and men. It was interesting to see how some women exude femininity (and some men the masculinity). To me it all comes down to people comfortable in their own skin. This was from the distance so you can barely see any details. Yet, the way some people conduct themselves scream femininity or masculinity. I started watching to avoid falling asleep, LOL. But the winners were:

- a woman with a lob. She had a nice long sexy dress but it looked as she had a long sleeve white blouse below it. Zero skin showing. I felt she was really comfortable, and topped all the curvy women in short dresses trying to cover themselves.

- a rather short woman with a simple dress. I only saw her back from the distance, but she had this slow pace, very natural, very feminine. They put these honor cords on them, and it looked awful over many women's long hair. What distinguished this woman was that, rather than rushing to shake hands, she took a couple of seconds to naturally fix the cord below her hair. Then she walked down in her nice pace. You can tell from miles away she is a feminine woman.

Unfeminine things? An overly excited woman running to get an award. Women in sexy dresses that felt uncomfortable.

I encourage you to try as it looks like you want that. Whatever the result, just own it. If you don't like it too much, just know it will grow and relay in other features for femininity. I think exuding femininity goes beyond any particular body feature and it's more about being comfortably as a woman and having small details that make it way obvious you are not a man.

It really depends! I personally think I look best with a bob. It’s by far my most complimented hair style. However, my husband prefers me with a full pixie (1-2” long).

I have long (mid-back) hair because it’s what’s most frugal for me and most supportive of my lifestyle. I really hated having a pixie and the regular trims a bob requires are both cost- and time-prohibitive for me. This is all without getting into the styling choices I get with long hair.

Within reason, worrying about the length of your hair is not the right move. Is there a certain facial feature you’d like to highlight or minimize? I think that in general, too-strong jaws do better with long hair and too-weak jaws do better with shorter hair. Hair is very personal and I love that as women, it’s very socially acceptable for us to change it up every so often! It’s hair, worst case scenario you go a bit too short and eventually it grows back.

It depends on what works for you! My husband loves long hair, but I dont think it looks very good on me... I try to keep it as long as I can... just medium length really. I think as long as you're styling it, with a blow dryer or curling it, any cut can look feminine (as long as its not too short)
