Never really though of it like that. So easy for mother’s to abandon responsibility for a child, even after the baby is born they can just drop that kid off no questions asked.

God forbid men want the same options.

You’ll never see people outside of this sub talking ab the hypocrisy of women who want the right to choose and then in the same breathe refuse that option for men.

a women getting pregnant accidentally after an alcohol induced one night stand, should definitely reject mother hood. for one, she's not ready, she wasn't completely aware, she has no romantic relationships with her date. so why should'nt she seek an abortion?

What pisses me off about this double standard and the whole "roe vs Wade" thing right now is the utter lack of personal responsibility displayed by some folks. By nature I'm probably on the side of pro-choice, however that comes with limits. I think that after a certain point (after 1st trimester) abortion should be illegal in all circumstances UNLESS it's for documented medical reasons (either mother or child). The stand that some, mostly hard left, take that abortion should be legal up to the point of birth is nothing short of murder and utterly reprehensible. However what I do see is a total lack of personal responsibility for one's own actions and the consequences thereof. I personally know a woman who has had 13 abortions. She is almost proud of the fact, loudly declaring it to anyone who did or didn't want to know (yes she's a feminist). She has almost no concept of prevention and using birth control to stop this from happening because she's had to face no consequences for her irresponsibility. Before anyone jumps on me saying men should wrap it up....YES THEY SHOULD. It's on BOTH parties to take care of their own birth control, neither should rely or assume the other party is taking care of it. From a male perspective, I'm 100% behind male parental rights and the right to financially abort if he doesn't want the child but the mother insists on carrying to term. No-one should be forced by the state to be in servitude to another for 18yrs if they didn't want to and other options were available to the mother. If she chooses to carry to term against his wishes, she should bear the full responsibility for that choice, both legally and financially.

I've heard numerous stories of women forgoing their parental rights, but not in a single one of them have I heard the women referred to as "Brave Heroes"

They don't get as much societal push back as men do, but they are also held in contempt by the people around them who know their situation.

Its all about accountability and responsibility. Women are given a free pass to NOT take accountability and responsibility for their actions while men are forced to take it and if they choose not to are destroyed.

Are you referring to a situation where a child is born and later abandoned by the parent? As in abandoning a child at birth vs denying fatherhood? Genuine question!

From the comments though it seems like a lot of people are comparing abandoning a child to terminating a pregnancy. It isn’t a fair comparison because obviously there is a major difference in the outcomes; in one case there is a child growing up without a parent, in the other there is no child.

Totally agree, but it's important to know that they yield different results. Mother aborts, no parental responsibilities for both, father leaves, mother is alone and needs to take full responsibility.
