Seems to be a very common stereotype but I just have not seen much truth to it. Does it ever happen? Sure. But the vast majority of the time it's celebrities and/or sugar daddy type of arrangements (so not real dating).

Almost all couples are very close in age (and usually socioeconomic status and almost always looks wise too). Having been around a lot of guys who have quite a bit of money, they tend to be with women who are the same age and also have similar status. When there is an age gap, they are still equal in other ways.

I just don't see the "bimbo" stereotype being accurate at all if we're excluding the sugar daddy thing. Sometimes there is an age gap, but if the girl is good looking you can bet the guy is even better looking. And one side is certainly not unemployed.

My theory is that it's just a false stereotype pushed by media.
