Really depends on where you are.

I dated a woman who was 16 when her boyfriend was 22 and it didn't seem weird to her. Neither did the idea of being attracted to a cousin but she grew up in a small town.

I work with a woman who is 38 and her boyfriend is 45. Another is turning 27 and her man is 44. These massive Johnny depp-Amber heard type age differences haven't really been something I've seen.

In my experience women seem to want a guy who is already established somewhat, but still has some room to grow and she wants to be a factor in his growth. I think this is where the idea of 'LMS' comes from where men are told that women are attracted to Looks, Money and Status and if you have none of the three youre wasting your time.

Its crazy because one of those things is out of your control(looks for the most part) because you don't choose your parents or what the culture around you finds attractive. Obtaining the levels of wealth that men are told to get is harder and harder due to a rigged system designed to disempower workers and condition them to blame themselves and others(usually people who are physically different) for capitalism failing them. High status is also somewhat of a crapshoot too, because you may find yourself ingratiating and humiliating yourself around 'more powerful' people in hopes of getting into their social circles, forcing yourself to pretend to be someone you really don't want to be.

So a lot of the time LMS is encapsulated in the older man with the younger woman stereotype. Brad Pitt is a world famous millionaire who looks phenomenal for his age. Donald Trump is a guy who at least before he really started to get old was over 6 feet with enough money in his bank account that he can do whatever he wants. Men who have established themselves in their careers or otherwise have obtained high social status might move in circles where they're encouraged to have trophy wives. There's also an undercurrent of fear motivating these people I think. A deep fear of getting old and a desire to hang on to some semblance of youth by being around young women. For some of the more bad looking older guys I think its a sense of 'making up' for what they may have missed out on as young men trying to make a name for themselves. They're trying to relive the fantasy of being a young 20 something with a beautiful young woman on their arm because deep down they feel that the kind of women they can now see are the kind of women who wouldn't have even given them a single glance before they had money and power.

These combos are often just a long-term sex work arrangement basically...

And they are rare because most women aren't interested in taking part, even extremely attractive women who could potentially do well in this kind of scenario would rather be making something of herself by getting educated or working on her career and dreams of actual love.

I think some men think like this because they watch too much weird dodgy media and they have zero understanding of women.

I'd wager it exists a fair amount in the uber wealthy community but I'm not sure it exists much outside of there.

I concur with those saying that the desire for an established man is mad real. Few women want to be stuck with a dude struggling to make it, particularly when there are structural issues making it harder for women to make money.

The older rich guy with the young hot women is the logical extreme of that principle. For a dude to be able to just cash in on his money with a younger woman is the ultimate flex. Throw in how much capital T time and capital E energy men have to throw into getting money and status, and this is their way of getting back at a system which forced them to give up their youth for money.

The better way is to change the system, but it's much harder to fight the power from within than to rebel against the system altogether

I think I agree with your theory. I actually grew up in a well heeled area where most of the men are quite wealthy, and not only do I not see this, but I’m almost completely positive that if it did happen they would be hardcore alienated because social expectations around here are pretty rigid.

I’ve lived in a lot of places though, and also haven’t seen this anywhere else. I think I’ve heard other people suggest they’ve seen this kind of culture/attitude in Las Vegas or boca raton, but I think those women might not all be…uhh…technical girlfriends.

PS: It could be that maybe I just don’t pay attention though. That is quite plausible. Lol.

This happens even outside of sugar relationships. I know early 20s women dating dudes in their 30s. It's not the norm, but it's not unheard of either.

Why is the sterotype out there? Because its what a lot of men (especially older red pill type men) want*. I think it comes from valuing a woman for her body and not for who she is a person, and how you relate together as a couple. Incidentally, I'm older now and whilst my comfort with age gap has gone up (it matters less as you get older), when I was in my 20s I probably wouldn't have gonr with much more than a 5 year age gap, as men more than that seemed like creepy guys.

I was reapproached by a man last week who had previously rejected me as being "too old for him". I'm 13 years younger than him.
