Background is I’m 26, married to my high school sweetheart, we’ve got 3 children (9,3,and 8 months). My husband and I have a great relationship, he’s a wonderful man and I truly have no issues with him. He never points anything out to me but I know there are things I need to work on within myself to build a happier home. I’m a stay at home mom and my husband works long hours for his business and it’s tough manual labor. I’m on my own all day, do all of the housework, cooking, and 95% of the childcare, and frankly I am absolutely exhausted. I know he is too. I’ve found myself so angry nearly all of the time these past few years. I’m a chronic complainer. I know it affects the house but I just can’t seem to stop. I’ve been in therapy on a weekly basis for nearly a year and I feel no better. I’m tired of being angry, I’m tired of finding every little thing to complain about, I’m tired of being unhappy but I just don’t know what to do. I’m angry at the lack of control in my life. I’m at the whims of everyone else and it feels like I have no choice over my own life. That’s no one’s fault but my own but I still can’t seem to help the anger. I thought I’d be that happy go lucky, arts and crafts, let’s run outside type of mom but I find myself depressed and lacking enjoyment or the feeling of fulfillment in my life. I grew up with a single, severely mentally ill mother and I hate it to say it but become her is my worst fear and I see myself slipping in that direction. She was mean, bitter, angry, aggressive, constantly complaining, and still to this day takes no accountability for her own life. Anyways.. sorry for the long post but does anyone have any advice? Has anyone been where I’m at mentally and come out of it? I can’t imagine feeling like this for the rest of my life. Please be kind.
