I got back from my work trip last night and told her I was coming back to see the kids the next day. This morning I couldnt sleep so I was up at 4 am doing laundry and putting stuff away at my friend's house so I didn't leave them a huge mess.

I went over around 7:30 am and couldn't get in the doors because they were locked and I couldn't get them open after unlocking them. I heard her in there telling me to leave, so I told her I was calling the cops. I called and told the dispatcher my situation, then called my friend who is a cop. He prepared me for what to say, I stayed completely calm and composed, and was even joking with them before they left. The cops were able to convince her to let me in the house. Afte I went in, she berated me about not doing what she wanted and "leaving our dogs to die" when I thought there was a protective order against me entering the house. She started to try and fight with me and I told her I wasnt here to talk to her.

My kids came down and were so excited to see me. Seeing them in my home after 2 weeks of hell was the best feeling I've ever had.

After she sent them up to get dressed she started telling me she was nervous about me being there and she wasnt sure "what version of me they were going to get". I told her I just wanted my kids and had to sleep somewhere because I couldnt afford anymore hotels. Once we got that out of the way, she tried to pick another fight saying " I wasnt accepting any responsibility for my actions." I realized something there, everytime I had in the past and right then said something about her actions and her share of the blame, she'd turn it around on me. I had accepted more than my share of the blame and tried to fix it. She couldn't admit her fault. It was eye-opening.

In the end, she invited me to get breakfast with the kids and her and we later spent time at the mall rewarding our kids for their hard work during the school year. I'm hanging out with my boys later and I couldn't be happier. I love being with my kids and it's so freeing to not care what she thinks or does. I'm pretty sure she has a date tonight while I stay home with my sons and I couldn't care less.

I stood up for myself against her abuse and I haven't felt this good in awhile.
