There are some great lines in this article:

So the feminists began the process of trying to “erase” distinctions between the sexes, calling most of them social constructs. Then trans-activists took the next step and sought to erase the sexes altogether. There absolutely is a straight line between the two movements. Trans-activists do deny biological science — but the feminists did it first.

Then there’s the irony of feminists — who made famous the line “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” — calling on men for help with the trans plans. This wasn’t lost on the commenters under the PJ Media article, either, with one quipping, “A militant, lesbian, man-hating … feminist wants real men to ‘stand up for women’. Now that’s funny. I thought masculinity was toxic.”

For decades, feminists traded in misandry, impugning men and telling lies (e.g., on the intersex wage gap, domestic violence, etc.) designed to demonize them. To the point, they also cast chivalry as demeaning, and even holding a door for the wrong woman could bring a tongue lashing. But now they want some knights in shining armor — to rent, not buy.

So are the feminists just proving an old stereotype? After all, they do say, “It’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.”

[–]PeterWrightMGTOW 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Completely aside from the politics of transgender activism, the author is right to claim feminists cleared the way for the transgender movement to come to prominence. For example Simone de Beauvoir wrote the following in her 1949 book 'The Second Sex':

One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. No biological, psychic, or economic destiny defines the figure that the human female takes on in society; it is civilization as a whole that elaborates this intermediary product between the male and the eunuch that is called feminine...

Many boys, frightened by the harsh independence they are condemned to, thus desire to be girls; in times when they were first dressed as girls, they cried when they had to give dresses up for long pants and had to have their curls cut. Some obstinately would choose femininity, which is one of the ways of gravitating toward homosexuality: “I wanted passionately to be a girl, and I was unconscious of the grandeur of being a man to the point of trying to urinate sitting down,” Maurice Sachs recounts. [The Second Sex - 1949]

[–]papabherd 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

To rent, not buy. So simple yet so brilliant.

[–]PeterWrightMGTOW 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Glad you brought that pithy line up. This is the point that noobs miss - that men are being called to protect (exploited) while simultaneously being viewed as toxic.

[–]brightglowup-7 points 4 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Not true. Some of us are very clear on how pointless an entity yall are.

[–]Shot-Ad8191 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Look ... compared to feminists, transgender men are totally real women.

[–]aknabi 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And you can bet money more logical, rational… sorry but sometimes facts are toxic (for feminists)

[–]Shot-Ad8191 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I don't know what you mean. But feminists repel me. I live in SEA 20 years ... haven't seen a feminist since I arrived. Lucky me.

[–]aknabi 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have yet to find a modern feminist that has provided a cogent, rational, logical argument to their point… I’ve even had discussions where I agree with their POV but their logic is non-existent… when I try to provide a more rational argumentation I get nailed with the toxic label… they’re nuts.

[–]Shot-Ad8191 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why would you even talk to them?

[–]aknabi 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Indeed. Actually now I just post facts, expose the illogic of their thinking and walk away (online and IRL) the audience of the comment isn’t the feminist… it’s the simps trying to white knight in the hopes they realize they’re dealing with irrationality (though of course thinking with one’s dick, which most simps are, is just as irrational. I say this as a former Grand Simp)

[–]JSNTFS 30 points31 points32 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not my problem. I don't like all of the extreme gender related nonsense we see nowadays ("women can have penises and men can get pregnant!") but it has zero effect on my day to day life. If it wasn't for the internet I'd barely be aware that trans people exist.

It was also mostly women who pushed this ultra-woke stuff when it comes to gender. Most men just kind of nodded and tried to ignore it. Women created this problem, they can deal with it.

[–]GulchDale 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If it wasn't for the internet I'd barely be aware that trans people exist.

Seriously, it's dumb and pushed by people inflaming the culture wars. They trump up all this trans fear so we're fighting about that instead of things that actually matter.

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Even if men wanted to help, they have very little social power.

I'll get some popcorn instead, and just watch the fight from a distance.

Beyond puberty blockers for kids or medical transitions of kids or schools enabling and not informing parents I find my self not giving a flying fuck about most of this.

Trans people pulling the "bone me or you are a bigot!!!"? No difference between that and some hambeast doing the same.

Oh yeah I have also not yet seen a fight between parents over a kid being trans that did not have the mother pushing it and the father pushing against it.

[+]Raphe9000 -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Trans people pulling the "bone me or you are a bigot!!!"?

It should be noted that the people who do that are incels and do not represent the people who have actual dysphoria and simply wish to be accepted while still understanding that people don't have to change their sexual orientation just because of them. People love to use incels as an example of why pushing for Men's Rights is bad as well.

[–]Wylanderuk 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It should be noted that the people who do that are incels and do not represent the people who have actual dysphoria

I will give you they don't represent all people that have actual dysphoria, but the "cotton ceiling" predates the rise of the current TRA rhetoric.

[+]Souseisekigun -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's kinda funny to see you use the term TRA seriously considering that it was deliberately chosen to sound like MRA as a way of discrediting them by association with you.

[–]Wylanderuk 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Funny I saw it used and used it long before rad fems tried to make the link buddy.

But the woke lead to the rise of trans stuff in their search for the ultimate victim class, kinda came round and bite you on the arse though has it not?

[–]ultimate_smash 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I don't have anything against transgender people, and I would continue to mind my own business as usual

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

For cis men who live under numerous misandric laws that take away our human rights, the more radical trans movement is a blessing. Hopefully they will achieve legal gender change on demand, I can't wait to change mine and stop being a third class citizen, but I know the feminists will block it.

[–]Grow_peace_in_Bedlam 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A few years ago, an Argentinian man legally changed his sex to retire at 60 instead of 65.

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also some man in Canada changed his sex (on paper) and saved thousands on his auto insurance.

[–]Rol9x 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Transgenderism is a byproduct of feminism. So if we get rid of feminism, we will get rid of transgenderism too. And since feminism is a byproduct of left wing politics... The solution is clear, no matter if some people deny it!

[–]Grow_peace_in_Bedlam 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'd say it's a perversion of left wing politics by making things about gender instead of class, treating university-educated women as if they were more of an underclass than male garbage collectors. Let's not forget that the first MRA was a socialist (Ernest Belfort Bax).

[–]Rol9x 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's what neo-marxism is: a perversion of left wing politics that replaces class struggle for gender struggle. Still a left wing ideology. And EBB was extremely wrong in his socialist approach. Probably because people didn't know much about the horrors of socialism in his time.

[–]GltyUntlPrvnInncnt 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Chivalry is dead and the feminists killed it.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I used to think going back to chivalry was the answer to countering feminism. Then I got wiser and realized chivalry actually enables feminism. (Pedastalizing women came from when courtly love was grafted into chivalry about 700 years ago). The sooner it dies the better.

[–]tiredfromlife2019 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't care. Fuck off women and Women up and fight for yourselves.

[–]ignatztempotypo 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“‘This is a men’s Rights movement…,’ Dansky declared, calling for men to stand up for women and denounce the transgender movement,” the site continued."

This is a beautiful example of feminism and it's complete insanity.

The radical feminist (feminism only wants equality!) speaks of "a men's rights movement" (we only want equality) as if it's a slur. Then calls upon men to stand up against it.

Truly amazing. The cognitive dissonance required to be a feminist is substantial.

I'll make the popcorn

[–]TerraBranfordFFVI 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm a transwoman and I find that article completely funny. As if men are really going to fight for you all when you feminists have downplayed men for so long. I got some good laughs and the sarcastic replies in the comment section made me chuckle even more hahaha!

I can't stand TERFs and I can't stand the typical member of the LGBTQ community that blames white cismales for the worlds woes.

Also, it was a white man in pre WW2 Germany named Magnus Hirschfeld that was the first psychologist to try to raise awareness and understanding of sexual and gender conditions.

[–]MusicalMerlin1973 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup. Hadn’t thought of it that way before, but declaring there is no difference between man and woman except secondary features really did open the door to the new argument.

[–]Butnazga 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I like how they say "men don't get to have an opinion" on these issues (unless it's the same as their officially approved opinion)

[–]Frosty-Gate-8094 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It wasn't a problem until it came down to 'a man can be a woman'.

When women wanted to be 'men', the feminists as well as the society supported them.
They called 'gender' a 'social construct'.

The whole transgender movement stemmed from these notions.

Nobody had any issue with it, until... 'Men could become women'.

In a world where only men get all the privileges. Where only women are 'oppressed'. Why will any man want to become a 'woman' and choose an 'oppressed life'?

And why will feminists try to 'protect' the rights of women to be 'oppressed'? When trans movement is giving them an opportunity to transition (biological) men into women and oppress them.

Food for thought isn't it?

[–]ConsiderationOdd2929 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feel free to disagree, but you might be looking at this all wrong. Let me explain:

I would not denounce "transgenderism". You hate feminism. I hate feminism. So... why would it translate to hate when a man decides to become a woman? Every trans woman I have ever met in real life are more feminine than most women. It makes sense to me that women should be jealous of a man stepping up and playing their part ten times better than they do. It burns them. This article only solidifies my understanding of this. Now, desperate and out-classed, feminists desperately turn to men to CLASSICLY shame them into getting what they want - AGAIN. The result is simply PRICELESS.

I'm not into trans women, but I would not denounce them at all. They dealt feminists a much-needed heavy blow to the ego.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend", as they say. Interested to hear your thoughts.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What led you to believe that trans people don't get psychiatric help?

[–]Educated_dumbass 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Im saying it needs to be more accessible.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why do you think it isn't accessible? Most trans people have to go through some amount of therapy before doing anything medical, often requiring letters from therapists to start hormones or surgeries.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Psychiatric help for transgender people has proven to be very ineffective. Most psychologists support transgender people because it’s seen as a perfectly healthy mental state. Nothing negative comes from it, and they would live healthy, normal lives if society would simply accept them for who they are. Therapy to try and change their identity usually leads to a lot of real personality disorders.

[–]Ferbuggity 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The problem happens when mentally unstable teenagers and straight adults start pretending to be trans and are treated as trans and not for what is actually going on.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Most of the time when someone falsely believes themself to be trans, they figure it out eventually. Certainly before any major surgeries at least. I believe that someone’s sexual identity is theirs to discover. It’s not our job to find it for them. Maybe someone is going down a path that they’ll later turn away from, but it’s not our job to decide that it’s the wrong path or to take action against it.

[–]Ott76182 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Most of the time when someone falsely believes themself to be trans, they figure it out eventually

But by that point, thousands upon thousands of trans activists have convinced the person that they must be trans, and that anyone who questions that is evil and transphobic. It’s a very toxic and damaging community for someone to find themselves a part of. You can’t fault others for trying to stop that happening.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Transgender activists aren't pushy like that. Their whole philosophy hinges on the idea of personal freedom in a person's sexual identity. It's not like a gang where once you're in it becomes nearly impossible to get out.

[–]Ferbuggity 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

When 3 year old kids are being 'transitioned', too damned right it's 'our' job.

When kids are being told at school that liking trucks -might- mean you're not a girl but a boy -- yup, our job.

And when teenagers at the end of the process end up horrified at what they've done to themselves, I would consider that a really good reason to have it be 'our job' to put in place some regulations that protect children from harm.

I have supported trans people and trans rights since the late 80's and still do, if less actively these days. This is nothing to do with trans rights, it's child abuse.

And the fact that people will actually go on the attack to defend it is one of the many many reasons I cannot and will not support the woke agenda.

edit: and re your actual post *end tangent* -- if "going down that path" was not vociferously encouraged to include surgery and life altering hormone therapies, I would 100% agree with you. My problem isn't with any actual trans person in any stage of their journey. I'm talking about the highly political radical element that is using trans rights and identities and issues to either push a toxic political agenda or get more attention and approval on the internet.

And you must know exactly what I'm talking about.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I will say, I don’t support 3 year olds transitioning. That’s way too young for them to really know what they want to be. I think 10-12 is a good age range to start allowing them to make decisions about their sexuality. That’s when puberty usually starts, which naturally ends up being when people discover things about themselves that might not follow traditional gender standards. Even then I think parental consent for the transition process should be required until the age of 18, as is the case with most medical practices.

Bear in mind though, the people to support the transgender portion of the LGBTQ community already consider gender stereotypes to be utter bullshit anyway. People already know that playing with trucks doesn’t make you a boy or that playing with dolls doesn’t make you a girl. Most of the people who think that are horrified at anything LGBTQ related and would never suggest that someone might be trans. Instances of parents trying to transition their young kids tends to be pretty rare.

[–]Ferbuggity 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The truck thing was part of a "gender rainbow" exercise run by Mermaids. Check out how they re-phrase and misrepresent the very sensible school guideline here:

https://imgur.com/a/7MazuNQ

in this article:

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2020/09/25/mermaids-lgbt-inclusive-lessons-guidance-schools-trans-kids-department-education/

"10-12 is a good age.." --- I would be very dubious of any decisions made by minors who have been indoctrinated at school and on social media with the idea that being trans is special and earns special attention. This is also not a good age to be hormonally mutilating children. This is also not an appropriate age to be telling kids about gender surgery options.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would hardly say people are indoctrinated at school. They're just taught what various sexual identities mean and that people should be accepted for who they are, which is a pretty easy statement to agree with. I would actually say that a good sex education is an important factor in ensuring that young people make an informed decision regarding their sexuality. Just shoving LGBTQ information under the rug and letting kids find out about it on social media is probably the easiest way to accidentally glorify it.

I could maybe see waiting until around 14 to allow it, but it definitely shouldn't be 18 like a lot of conservatives want it to be. At that point people are beyond ready and have already dealt with a lot of feelings of personal dissociation due to the long wait. Most people are well within puberty by 14 and have a pretty good idea of their sexual interests. Plus, it'll still take time from that point to make irreversible changes. Nobody decides they're trans one day and cuts off their penis the next.

[–]Ferbuggity 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, I agree, minimum age 14 is pretty acceptable. And a focus on educating parents would be even better... including a strong message that experimenting with gender and attraction preference does NOT always mean your kid is actually gay, or nb, or trans so it's important not to invest too hard in any choice but to support them and any changes they wish to make, understanding that it may not be permanent.

Some of these mums and their 'trans' toddlers... it's the new teacup dog or potbellied pig.

edit: just a note on 'irreversible changes'.. puberty blockers and adolescent top surgery are exactly that, to different degrees of potential harm.

And as for next day penis removal.... in some places, doctors are not only not allowed by law to counsel minors to wait before seeking surgical or hormonal procedures, these procedures are now alarmingly fast tracked. Not next day.. but too quickly and with insufficient oversight.

[–]tenchineuro 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Most psychologists support transgender people because it’s seen as a perfectly healthy mental state. Nothing negative comes from it

Wait, I've read that trans-folk have very high suicide rates, is this not a negative that denies a 'healthy mental state'?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They have high suicide rates because people don’t always accept them. Some of them go years hiding their true identities because they know that their families will disown them for it. They go for long periods of time pretending to be someone they’re not. These long periods of dissociation often lead to depression and even suicide.

[–]tenchineuro -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So we can take 'healthy mental state' off the list then.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I am a man. Let’s say hypothetically speaking, that I’ve dealt with a lot of sexism throughout my life. I haven’t, but for the sake of the analogy let’s say I have. This unearned hate has made me extremely depressed, and I’ve attempted suicide multiple times. By your logic, being a man is what is destroying my mental health and making me unstable. Being a man is not a healthy mental state, according to you.

[–]tenchineuro -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I am a man.

  • Red Green Pledge: I'm a man, but I can change, If I have to, I guess.

Let’s say hypothetically speaking, that I’ve dealt with a lot of sexism throughout my life. I haven’t.

So where do you live?

This unearned hate has made me extremely depressed, and I’ve attempted suicide multiple times.

Well, the trans folk say that being a man has nothing to do with your chromosomes, so you're pissing them off with your analogy.

But everyone (except trans folk and maybe our latest SC judge) can probably tell you're a male. But it's not so obvious that someone is gender confused.

And where did you get the credentials to diagnose? And if you think you have a one-size fits all diagnosis for what must be a really diverse group of both sexes, you may be in for a Nobel Prize. Either that or your ego exceeds your abilities.

Nothing you can make up proves anything about anything, let me be the first to tell you.

By your logic, being a man is what is destroying my mental health and making me unstable.

Actually that's by your logic, it's called a straw-man argument, you attribute to me something that I did not say (the strawman) then you knock down your own argument.

Being a man is not a healthy mental state, according to you.

No, according to you.

What the fuck did you actually just say? That was the most confusing and seemingly unrelated wall of text that I think I’ve ever read. Are we even talking about the same thing here? Have we both just completely misunderstood each other this entire time?

The analogy of being a man was used because this is r/MensRights, and I thought it would be very relatable for that reason. I think it might’ve been a mistake though, since you seem to be comparing things that weren’t meant to be compared. My point is just that you can’t blame transgender people for other people’s stigma towards it. That’s like starting a house fire and then claiming that it was the architects fault for building the house out of wood. Whoever lights the fire is at fault, not the person who designed or built the house. Being transgender may be fuel for discrimination, but it’s transphobic people who light the match. They’re the ones to blame for transgender depression, not the transgender people themselves.

My point is that you can't invent a stigma and blame it on those you accuse of having it.

but it’s transphobic people who light the match. They’re the ones to blame for transgender depression

So you claim. And I ask again what credentials you have that allows you to make diagnoses of this type.

This ‘paving the way’ argument is well-established by now, and it’s very coherent and persuasive. However, isn’t it also fair to say that not all feminism was in favour of minimising these differences, and the differences were overstated in a lot of ways (the classic one being that women didn’t have the mental capacity to be involved in politics for example)? That’s been shown not to be true (although I concede the feminisation of the political sphere has changed the way a lot of politics is done).

But I’m also not a fan of the ‘sit back and laugh’ approach (as tempting as it may be). I kinda took this position the other evening when I was asked for my opinion on the matter (I rarely articulate my political views in public because I’d stand to lose my job and social status). I feel as though trans activists have simply picked up the tools that were fashioned for them by a lot of feminist rhetoric and turned them on their creators, and said as much. It wasn’t well-received…

However, we all have daughters, wives, mothers, women we care about, right? I would like to make things better, despite being a bit put out by the rather relentless ‘shut up and listen’ (which means ‘agree with me’) rhetoric of the past 30+ years or so I’ve been alive. I am at something of a loss on this one. I want women to continue to have their sports and spaces etc, and am very nervous about some of the things being done to young people in the name of progress. But at the same time I feel very disempowered. As someone above said, even if I wanted to be chivalrous, the tools that would allow me to do so have been removed.

However, isn’t it also fair to say that not all feminism was in favour of minimising these differences

Reading feminist literature from all three waves reveals that the vast majority shifted between the 'sameness' and 'difference' view of the sexes based on the convenience of which position might win them more power in a given situation. The writings of Ernest B. Bax detail this shifting, contradictory rhetoric employed by feminists on the basis of convenience. The author of the above article also captures this point when he writes:

So are the feminists just proving an old stereotype? After all, they do say, “It’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.”

The bottom line is that some people will say anything to garner power - no matter how contradictory their arguments.

Agreed.

Unfortunately, in my multi decade experience the "The bottom line is that some people will say anything to garner power - no matter how contradictory their arguments." is more correctly put as "some men and almost all women, will say anything to garner power - no matter the consequences "

In US law, the defense or prosecutor is allowed to make several arguments even if some contradict each other but once the court agrees with one of them, you’re stuck with it and can’t argue against your own argument anymore. So you have to be careful what you wish for.

My problem with "lol, your problem" is that it isn't just rad fem lesbian whatever liberals who would gain from male support against the insane woo of these woke people. That's your kids, nephews, nieces, having some raving trans wannabe "teacher" shove gender choice on them they are not ready to comprehend. And wtf will all our futures look like if these fruitloops are who is making decisions and laws and policies for us all.

Embrace the gay.

Embrace the actual trans.

Fight the woke on all fronts.
