Your child is a separate person and not an extension of you. Buy yourself some flowers and name your child Dave.

A person who will face consequences for the rest of his life because you like flowers. At least he'll be comforted by pink Japanese trees when he's getting beaten in the school yard and laughed at in bars.

A lot of it reeks of the typical attention whore parenting that you see especially in the social media age but at the end of the day you do you, he'll probably go by a nickname in his teenage years anyways and if it pisses him off enough later on he can always change it 🤷‍♂️

Well if you want him to be bullied relentlessly, leading to stunted social skills that will impact all areas of his life and can easily cause long-teem depression and anxiety then sure, go for it.

Or just give your kid a socially acceptable name and avoid all that trouble.

I would love to ask someone like Shannon Sharpe what it was like growing up in terms of his name.

Once you get out of elementary/middle school, the bullying will likely die down.

I wouldn’t be someone to utilize my child as some sort of social crusade. They are the ones that actually have to deal with the issues that may arise because they have a “wrong” name.

By all means give your child an androgynous name, but don’t intentionally paint a giant target on his back by giving him a blatantly feminine name.

I dont really think its a good idea simply for the fact that youre setting up your kid for getting bullied for something that you could easily avoid. You can give the name as a second name. Have the first name as something normal but refer to them as the second name at home etc.

Giving your kid an idiotic name in general i think is a little bit sadistic. I dont know what masculine names youre referring to so its hard to compare

Ashley, Leslie, and Carol are all traditional male names that have skewed female over the last while. I’ve seen much worse baby name choices.

Just try not to be a dick to your kids, basically.
