Vasalgel is a North American Version of RISUG. A procedure developed in India around 40 year ago. It's been undergoing trials but has had funding issues. Also marketing is a concern since it's a single use procedure and has no long term profitability.

It sounds great but I think the overall reversibility is in question...

My understanding is that the reason vasectomies often result in permanent sterilization is that because the sperm never leaves the body, the body develops an antibody response that attacks sperm that doesn't go away after things are reconnected. Vasalgel is likely to have the same issue.
