Women always suffer the most in war, as their husbands, fathers, boyfriends, and sons are killed, crippled, blinded, disfigured, or driven insane by the violence and terror of combat. This renders them unable to provide, or at the very least less attractive.

You might be transposing the UN with the Red Cross. Red Cross is good folk.

Yes this is pretty typical for agencies to practise extreme sex discrimination, but what wouldn't be typical I think is having a situation where you had to leave half the people to die. It's usually more along the lines of providing services to women but not men, seeing women but not men as victims, lending money to women but not men, giving food to women, but not men.
