I'm not sure about this. I know plenty of women claim men are selfish in bed, and I believe them. However, 95% of men I have been with go absolutely wild when I orgasm. I haven't met a single one who refused to go down on me. I also know plenty of women who have the exact same experience.

I have even been pumped and dumped" by guys who spent 30 minutes eating me put and ensuring I had a good time - so this isn't about impressing and trying to snag me.

I think it really comes down to culture. Different cultures and subcultures have different attitudes towards sex. It's in your interest to find ones that have a salubrious attitude.

Hookup culture literally does not benefit anyone.

it’s rarely good sex. You don’t know what your partner likes and you don’t feel a connection to your partner.
it’s flat out unsafe, especially for women.
a lot of people, especially men, don’t want a partner who participated in hookup culture.
attaching yourself to a lot of different people gives psychological issues.
people with body counts higher than five already have a significantly higher chance of divorce.

I don’t get why people do it.

The only women I know who didn't like their sex lives were either fucking really poorly endowed dudes or eventually revealed they've never had an orgasm under any circumstances at all their entire lives. Most women don't really regret the sex they've had is the impression I get, and when I talk to immigrant and expat women from more conservative countries they mostly seem to enjoy being able to have hookups for once.

I'm going to guess most of the "bad" sex hookup studies, as limited as they are, are the typical college aged student survey nonsense where people will no experience have sex with people with no experience and its not very good because of that lack.

I don't think you have the experiences to make these claims. You are just assuming things based on "what you've heard". Maybe you are just bad at sex and don't know what good sex is, maybe you have a low sex drive and don't get the fuss. You don't know much about casual sex though.
