She is set to voluntarily move out for a trial separation (yes I know they don’t work hear me out before the obligatory “separation doesn’t work file now” comments”

I make more than her probably 3 times what she makes. I will want to keep the house (pretty sure if I can refinance it and give her her part of the equity she can’t make me sell. Keeps the kids in their schools and neighborhood) I feel like her moving out strengthens my claim to the home.

We will be splitting time with the kids 50/50 (although I anticipate having them more which is completely fine I LOVE being a dad)

I live in a no alimony state “holla!” So the only thing she can expect is her portion of the current assets and child support. According to the state child support calculator she will only be getting like $430 a month from me. (Even if it’s $1000 it doesn’t hurt me really, I’ve calculated I could give $1800 and still live the way I do now) I will not be giving anymore than required I’m just saying this that I’ve considered them forcing me to pay more than the requirements. I don’t see it happening but I recognize the possibilities.

She will not be able to afford the apartment when we divorce and she’s getting only child support from me. So my question is what happens then?

She’s making a little over $43k a year (median household income for the area I believe is $40k). The avg rent on a place she would like (she has expensive taste in everything.) is like $2k a month. Well she will only be netting about $3k a month and that’s being generous probably closer to $2700. Her car payment is $600 right now (she would have to refi it in her name which could lower it OOORRR I could use it as leverage to keep more equity or my retirement and pay it off) estimated utilities should cost her about another $300 plus car insurance and cell phone idk how she’s suppose to eat or live at that point.

Is there something I’m missing that could end up costing me more? Share some wisdom my people.

I do not care what she does there so don’t bring it up you’re not some wizard telling me something I haven’t thought of or a unique comment I haven’t seen in 100 threads in this sub.
