The verbal strategy of: "The patriarchy hurts men too, so join with us to smash the Patriarchy!" and its many variants is best seen as a smokescreen to stop men from getting access to the shared social resources they need. The truly effective ways to help men's mental health involve steps like funding of health initiatives, introducing legal reforms in family courts and elsewhere, social programs to train young men for careers and help them find employment, etc. However, all of these practical solutions are seen by some people as taking those resources away from women as a group, and so we suddenly get what many men's advocates have rightly termed "trickle-down equality" being preached by dishonest snakes.

Men have no natural in-group bias, unlike our counterparts, so there is no unconscious reaction analogous to the "just man up" response you experienced when approaching those you had been told – incorrectly – were empathetic and caring. Honestly, I'm not surprised that it was only men who were supportive towards you, and there was no sign of any real concern being shown elsewhere. Because of selfishness and an instinctive in-group bias, that external support from the opposite sex is transactional only.

Not even touching on the whole video, right at the very beginning, you notice how his mother only recognizes his depression in the context of what labor he can provide to her? He no longer does all that work for her that he used to do, and that's the only problem she sees. She doesn't care about his mental health at all, she just wants her workhorse back.

Now imagine a Father bringing his young daughter to this show which he made an alchoholic at 13 years old with male judges that won't raise this point ever and instead attack the girl crying and trying to express herself on tv.
I think the show could only do this if it was live because it wouldn't be aired otherwise, and it would be canceled the day after with a mediatic outlash.
I am all for justice and equality, but people denying men face sexism and injustice too it's either an empathethic psycho, or a willing opportunist with no moral

That's the thing they don't understand, the "patriarchy" solves way more problems than it creates. We're alive and well today because of it.

Strong men leading, providing, and protecting their loved ones combined with the drive for success and conquering is why we're here today.

But they are privileged and blinded by their 1,000 perks and benefits and tunnel vision on the 2 things they don't have and then try to blame ALL men and ALL of the patriarchy as something bad.

The worst is they're not even open-minded. You can explain why things are the way they are and it's still better this way even if it's not perfect but they will insist that the worst way is the better way. Our society is doomed unless we make sharp and drastic changes.

I do believe that there are patriarchal systems that harm both men and women. Where I think I might differ from the mainstream narrative is that I believe women are equally responsible for the perpetuation of those systems as men and in some cases more so.

Even in our current era where the same women who convincingly argue for equality are happy for men to fight in war while they flee (e.g. Ukraine), and are content with men doing the dangerous and most physically tough jobs.

Both my wife and teenage daughter regularly insist that women are as tough and capable whilst also insisting that anything dangerous or physically demanding should be done by me. I jump into action as soon as such a situation arises because the patriarchal ideas forged into my mind by both my parents dictates that I do so.

A recent example would be that recently we got a flat tyre. My wife and daughter both stood and watched while I replaced the wheel without lifting a finger or even offering help. Had I had my son with me the same patriarchal system would’ve expected me to have him do it while I guided him through the procedure. As it was I tried to engage my daughter by showing her what I was doing but she showed little to no interest.

They aren't wrong when they blame the 'patriarchy', what's incredibly wrong and I'd say selfish to the point of being evil is calling it 'patriarchy'. They know very well they mean the system and society in general, it was never kind to men (women had their struggles too but that's another subject).

Also, yes, as a man when I have to deal with serious health issues or emotional pain I'm basically told to suck it up.

You should argue with some of the self righteous leftists on Twitter, one obe hand they'll claim their gender equality advocacy has helped men dissociate from toxic masculinity, on the other hand you make a innocuous complaint about relationships, and they call you bitchy and whiny like a pussy, a loser, an incel etc.

Hard to watch. He’s right, if this was a woman crying and talking about her depression the audience and panel would have had sympathy for her. But because it’s a man, (one that was USED as a babysitter for his mom) he is made to feel like he is nothing and his feelings don’t matter. This breaks my heart. I have 3 young men and me and my husband make sure they know their roles. Your kids should know that they are worthy and that they are as important (if not more important, biased mom view) than the next man or WOMAN.
