Feeding the trolls is the worst thing you can do unless you like being trolled. Whatever scathing retort you have for them only feeds them. Because while you were typing it up, you were paying attention to them. They owned you. You were their bitch. Your 5 paragraph, 500 word wall of text explaining why the troll's one line post of "get raped and die bitch" is part of "rape culture" and that they should feel bad about it that you spent 20 minutes writing will only prompt them to make another obnoxious post. Arguing with a troll is like mud wrestling a pig. The pig will enjoy it, and you will accomplish nothing.

That article is an entire exercise in how NOT to respond to internet trolls. Also, trolling is gender neutral. Just a typical stupid feminist.

Clementine Ford has to be one of the worst writers in Australia. Every single article she writes is an exercise in victim hood. Oh the big bad men out there, they sent me a nasty tweet. FFS!

Trolls troll the trollable. Are tweets and comments threatening rape or assault acceptable? No. Are people making these threats because they intend on carrying them out? Hell no! They are looking for a reaction. It is a vicious cycle. Troll makes comment, feminist responds "Misogyny" and writes and article about it. Troll sees tweet in mainstream media and thinks "Sweet! I want more of that.".

The really sad thing is the needs of both the troll and feminist are being served in such circumstances. The troll gets attention and reactions. The feminist gets to play the victim and 'prove' that misogyny is alive and well. What they don't realise is, is it isn't about misogyny (mostly), trolls do this to men and women.

Edit: Trolls are also both male and female.
