I think the best time so far to be just about anything is now. Things have been getting better for a long time, even if the progression hasn't been even.

I'm not sure, because for the vast majority of human history, if you were a man (or a woman) you were probably eating dirt for a living, more or less. I wouldn't necessarily want to live in the past even if I could be a wealthy member of the nobility, because there has been so much technological progress.

Relative to women, life for men today is very terrible, and there has been a real loss of dignity. But going back in time wouldn't be an improvement. I'd rather look forward, and try to get back our honorable place.

Men have lost a great deal compared to where we were fifty years ago. As a group, we have worse employment opportunities, the educational system has largely flipped around to favor girls and women, and progressive reforms over the last half century have heavily favored women in family law issues. Even so, I'll take the present day.

Even though our employment opportunities are not what they once were, the rise of the dual-earner family has its benefits. It's not all on me as a man. If you can actually buy into the lifestyle where either spouse's salary can maintain the household, then we men have a lot more freedom to lose our jobs, change careers, go back to school, etc. Women have the same enhanced opportunities.

The educational system may favor girls and women, but it isn't doing very well by anyone. Educational outcomes in the United States have been stagnant since the early 1970s. Other advanced nations have similar issues. On balance, I'll say push.

Family law is not as favorable to men as it was 50 years ago, but it is much better than it was 20 or 30 years ago. MRA are making progress.

Notwithstanding those issues, I'll take a longer life (on average). I am happy that there is no longer conscription (at least in my country). I am glad that women are better-educated so that I don't have to leave my home to find minimally intelligent conversation.

From 1946 - 1961 in America roughly. And not for any reason sexist or otherwise. There was opportunity, respect, a loosening of racial tensions (but realistically, still there, so forgive my caucocentric world view), and abundance.

I have no idea, I don't really think it has happened yet. For me personally it was when I was younger when I thought I had more control over my life and I probably actually did back then, I guess the deeper I got into adult life the more of this eroded and the rose tinted spectacles were probably going at the same time. I was actually pretty depressed as a kid and young adult too, these days I have a greater issue with anxiety. In fact these days I can't even be around people for very long. Maybe that's just me.

The best time for everyone is now. We have better health, greater life expectancy and more opportunity than ever before. Most people have the chance to visit other countries.

This does not affect the fact that men, the gender that has created all this opportunity, are hugely discriminated against in all developed countries.

The best time for me is the present. There is a lot of information available via the internet, men can free themselves from the expectations of family and society.

If I was to pick an era it would be post WW2. Real wages were good, modern conveniences had made life a little easier, men could do both intellectual or physical labour depending on skillset and marriages were a partnership based on greater good( I expect I'll have to defend that point). Most importantly men's sense of duty to their family and community was given the respect it deserved.

I truly believe the worst time is now. Men are still in many ways the same creatures they were then (I'd take a bullet for my wife if necessary, as I'm sure the majority of men would) but we are despised for being men. The world sees us as dumb philandering womanizers that are irrelevant to the family at best and violent wife beating rapists at worst.
