Personal experience 12% is a pretty high response rate for talking about mental illnesses.

Yeah, thats actually a pretty Nice number even if it would be better of it was higher

I'm surprised it's so low. I've mailed US congress members a handful of times and 100% always got a response.

It's always been some shitty form letter, but always something.

Something the US is better than Canada at besides force of arms? Every victory brings us a step closer to superiority.

Uhh... The olympics I think? Idk I don't pay much attention.

That's something that's always bugged me. We spend enough on our military to defend the world, so the rest of the world doesn't have to spend much on their military and can spend that money on their own country.

Part of me wants to see NATO disbanded, and let them fend for themselves.

That's what I was going to say... it's not a controversial issue... surely a no-thought form response "It is our concern and goal to address the plight of members of our community who continue to face bravely the challenges..." yada yada yada, could be printed out and rubber stamped with an official looking (but not legally binding) signature.

But one has to wonder what the response would be if it the name was Naomi Irvine and not Noah Irvine?

Equally - would the media be ignoring the story if the author of the 338 letters was female?

Hmmm. To be fair, I don't even like Trudeau and I fail to see what's wrong with that. He's leading the country, he's going to answer every letter he gets in some kind of value displaying/emotional grab for the last story that gets shared online? Unless there is a valid reason to take his time in doing so or that he feels like it, it's not really discrimination or something that MensRights should concern itself with. Is it?

The Prime Minister has better things to do, obviously.

I don't understand what we're naming and shaming here? That they didn't respond to the letters? What if the letters didn't require a response?

“I’m 17, I’m involved in politics. There’s a need for young people to get involved, I’m attempting to get involved, but I’m stiffed by politicians across the country who don’t want me to be involved,” he added.

Yes. People are busy. When you engage someone, you're asking for their time.

“There are still good politicians in office — but in my opinion they are few and far between,” said Irvine.

translated: If you don't do what I personally think you should, you're a bad politician.

His father was 40 when he died and his mother was just 24 years of age at the time of her suicide.

In the letter, Irvine explained how he lost his mother to suicide when he was just five years old and about the loss of his father in 2015 to mental illness.

Father = 25 mother = 19 when he was born, so she got pregnant either early 19 or mid-18.
