I'm left leaning socially, right leaning economically, I'm pro-choice, pro-gay marriage and a staunch secularist and I don't mind immigration as long as they're not letting in people who want to defraud the taxpayer or kill us for blaspheming their religion. These fucking anti-capitalists and feminists however have made me so anti-Socialist and anti-Communist you'd think I was a Republican.

I'm a radical leftist. I just reject SWJ/feminist nonsense, which unfortunately has largely co-opted the traditional left. It's only a matter of time before a schism develops on the left between people who want to focus on class and imperialism and people who want to obsess over identity and scapegoat white males.

I tend to lurk these days, but I figured I'd respond. I consider myself centrist, though years ago I might have considered myself leftist. These days even moderate leftists are being ousted into the alt right end of the spectrum by the extreme left, which the media continues to attempt to normalize. That is my opinion at least, but the simple fact is that, if you don't agree with 100% of what the right person says, you're alt right, sexist, racist, ect..

I recognize womens legitimate issues, and issues that existed and continue to exist, and agree they should be settled. The problem is there are mens issues which are a much higher priority, that can ruin peoples lives, and womens issues in non first world countries that are extremely high priority, but the current left refuses to acknowledge except when they want to get extra victim hood points.

It really depends how you define "right".

I believe in a mixed economy (private enterprise, except where there is a public interest in providing a common good, and a democratic will to provide that good), classical liberalism, gender and racial equality, freedom of speech and conscience, freedom of assembly, that gay people should have full and equal rights before the law, that religion is a private matter of conscience that has no business interfering in the running of the state. And I believe that science and reason should be the guiding lights that inform policy. But I also believe that it's possible to have an honourable difference of opinion with people who also want the best for their fellow men and women, but think there is a better route to that goal than the one I see.

I have held these views for more than twenty years. When I was young, they marked me out as left wing or liberal. But since the year 2000 the political landscape has gone through a weird and disturbing transformation. Now, to be left wing I must believe that women should be treated as equal or superior to men in merit but lesser than men should in their ability to compete for jobs or places on STEM courses, or withstand cross-examination in a court. To be left wing, I must believe that it is right and proper to turn our faces away from religious bigotry and fanaticism, if the fanatics in question are not white, even when that means leaving them free to trample on the liberties of members of their own communities. To be left wing, I must believe that the proper response to criticism of orthodoxy is to libel, shame and attack the critic.

I cannot believe these things. If that means I am right wing, so be it.

Fellow lefty here, although I primarily identify as liberal. This survey might interest you. Iirc it was done about 4 years ago - I don't think much has changed, people here are overwhelmingly socially liberal and split on economic issues. It's worth noting that a large minority here aren't from the US, so wouldn't choose "democrat" or "republican", but might choose "libertarian", so "other" might contain more people on the left than on the right.

As we progress into the 21st century what is left or right will become secondary issues to who is pro humanism and who is pro trans-humanism. There is a small but powerful group of people who think that humanity's future is just a chip away.

I consider myself centrist these days, but according to a test I took a while ago, I'm a left leaner. The left is just so alien to me these days. I grew up staunchly liberal; conservative was a dirty word. But these days things are more muddy. I believe in equal opportunity, but I hate affirmative action. I also went from being pro-immigration in my naive youth to anti-immigration as a young blue collar worker, realizing how a cheap foreign labor force has taken most entry level positions and driven the wages into the ground.

I believe in a meritocracy where the wealthy lift the poor up a bit more than they do in current Western society. I still want people to be able to distinguish themselves, but I think there is too much of a divide between the average person and the obscenely wealthy. We don't take care of our working class like we should, even though the rich get richer by exploiting them.

I think it's fair to say that people who advocate for men's issues come in all shapes, and we all need to work together. While I just went on about my personal beliefs, they don't matter under this banner. All that matters here is that we fight for equal treatment under the law, and by society on average.

I'm one of the furthest right that still continues to post here.

While I absolutely hate progressives (because heading towards self-destruction is not progress) I have self-moderated myself to differentiate between liberals and progressives.

To me, liberals are people with different priorities and desires, but are still wanting the country to be "better", just perhaps in different ways than I desire. Progressives actually hate the west and want it to self-destruct.

I do consider the left to be progressive. The actions of the American left has shown them to soundly be within that portion of the spectrum.

Thankfully, the bar group I hang out with, while still majority liberal, is moving away from the left due to the same reason I think the left is lost.
