There was strong evidence of Flack being abusive towards her boyfriend at the time. Why would the met need to justify charging her with a crime? The family aren't owed an apology.

An example of female on male abuse and what do we get? "Be kind" and the police apologising for charging an abuser.

It's also weird that CPS declined to prosecute even given the evidence. Normally, they wouldn't care if the vicitm doesn't wish to prosecute but the genders played into their decision.

She offed herself because... she was facing the likelihood of being held accountable for something it sounds like she actually did and couldn't be arsed to put on her big girl pants and take a bite of her humble pie like any man would have to?

Cry me a river. No apology should have been issued. If she didn't want the publicity of an assault trial, she should have kept her hands to herself.

I'm not wholly without sympathy for her mother. She still had to bury her child. But the fault for that lies entirely with said child and no one else.

A coroner later ruled the presenter killed herself because she knew she was facing prosecution and feared the publicity a trial would attract.

Uh, since when do coroners give motive behind any person's death? I have only ever seen them include the medical cause of death, and whether it was homicide, suicide, accident, or unknown.

She was covered in her boyfriend's blood when Police arrived and told the attending Officers that she had hit him. He said that he was attacked when asleep in bed. She actually threatened suicide at the scene. At the end of the day, The mishandling of the files had nothing to do with her assaulting her partner and then killing herself. It's sad but the police are not to blame.

As others have said: this looks like nothing more than a rare case of a woman experiencing gender equality, being treated exactly the same as a man, and people getting upset about that.

Imagine going to the press and demanding that the police be reformed because they had the audacity of charging your daughter with DV, based on merely catching her red-handed (pun intended), covered in blood and admitting to the violence. How shocking! If ever there is a time that the police should have granted a pussy pass, that was it! Instead they callously treated her the same as a man would be treated in the same situation. Unacceptable!

Physical and (especially) emotional abuse is not taken seriously enough when perpetrators are women. Especially emotional abuse. It’s always perceived on some level as being a woman. Nagging done every day is emotional abuse but we don’t think of it this way. Hen picking, honey do lists, all these cutsie terms are all abusive designed to break men in the long run.

If it was a fella, given the "crime scene" photo after she'd assaulted the boyfriend, there would be NO WAY he'd be treated as a victim, no crying for an apology from the police, no sympathies because of bullying. Everyone would, rightly, want him buried under the prison, everyone would be up in arms over just a caution. Sorry not sorry but fuck Caroline Flack and her mother. It's clear who the entitlement was learned from.

If anything the whole saga should be a watershed moment to state that even female perpetrators of abuse and violence will face legal and social repurcussions

We’re doing something we say we hate to do. We don’t know for a fact and will never know this is why these cases should not be publicised.

I can say what it looks like but I can’t say with certainty an innocent person did not kill herself because of constant bullying

This infuriated me. There was a lot of evidence that Flack seriously assaulted her boyfriend. The Met were duty bound to investigate and having found strong evidence of a serious crime to prosecute. Why does her family get an apology for them doing their job? How entitled and morally bankrupt do you need to be to then reject that apology and claim it is insufficient?
