This is a pretty good idea tbh, no man would want to call themselves curvy, almost all women prefer that over heavy. Makes everyone feel better and has pretty much no downsides

I don't mind this so much. I don't want to be totally the same as women. What you are seeing here is the normal capitalistic need to sell to your audience. As overweight men like to think of themselves as heavy, women like to call themselves curvy.
