Crazy story. Female politician had a “habit of licking men that either she was attracted to or thought that she had authority over.” Finally resigns.

There is also a small YouTube channel that posted a video where he talks about this issue.

https://youtu.be/uK5iM9z1qaM

Edit; not his channel

I would be uncomfortable too if strangers were trying to kiss my neck and running their nasty hands on my face.

I've been to A LOT of concerts and I'd say like 99% of them had absolutely disgusting bathrooms and they're almost always stripped bare of everything (including soap) because concert people are fucking animals and will destroy everything.

Yeah thousands of dirty hands, cold sores, viruses, bacterial infections.... He probably gets sick all the time. That or he tries to load himself up with meds.

[–]DarkSoulsEater 59 points60 points61 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

He is probably super resillient against those pathogens these animals are carrying.

There is already a super bacteria living inside of him, being cultivated by his powerful immune system.

Now its their turn to get sick.

Honestly Brendon deals with so much shit he shouldn't have to. Fans being gross at concerts, screaming in his face and chasing after him in airports, being so creepy that he had to move from his dream house...I feel so bad with him.

[–]Theeyeofthepotato 106 points107 points108 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes the one with his house especially sucked. How you could shamelessly invade someone's personal space like that is beyond me.

[–]dingman58 66 points67 points68 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's pretty weird what fans do to the artists they purport to love

[–]YFNN 59 points60 points61 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

It's because it's an entirely one sided selfish love. They don't consider the other person's feelings and either don't care or can't understand how that makes that person feel. It's in part due to how they idolize them. They pretty much dehumanize them whether they realize it or not and see them as the object of their love rather than a person they love.

[–]dingman58 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well-put

[–]CurSiM__ 30 points31 points32 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Context on the house please? Never heard of that

People literally harassing them at their home. Stalking them, parents lifting their kids over the fence to take pictures, following Brendon's wife Sarah around, it's just so creepy. So they had to move from that house because of how out of hand the stalking got.

[–]CurSiM__ 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jesus Christ that's disgusting. Some people...

[–]spunkymarimba -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jesus Christ he could choose not to be a rock star if this bothers him.

[+]ziggmuff -15 points-14 points-13 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I'm so sad for him too, that continuous stream of money and pussy he didn't do anything to bring upon himself by becoming a rock star must really suck.

[–]Chung_Soy 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Try replacing that (rather unintelligible) sentence with she.

“Wow, she gets to be groped, touched and paid for it in the millions, she’s a rockstar and she doesn’t deserve to complain.”

Fuck you, just because you make millions and have all the fame and power in the world doesn’t mean that you lose the right to be human and have limits. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or woman, being touched against your will is never ok.

Male rape victims exist and people like you hurt them even more after all they suffered by denying their experiences.

The irony of this was that the girl putting her saliva on him was exposed by another girl if it was a guy posting that he'd be attacked in comments by other guys saying she paid for that concert and can do whatever within arms distance around him.

[–]stvbles 37 points38 points39 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's vile. What the fuck.

[–]fuckflyingpigs 47 points48 points49 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Nobody ever says "you can do whatever within arms distance," that's a terrible strawman. At least give a legitimate argument.

[+][deleted] -18 points-17 points-16 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If I put my finger in my mouth and placed it on someone's lips to shush them does that mean I kissed them?

[–]fuckflyingpigs 21 points22 points23 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Doesn't matter what you call it, that's disgusting if you don't know the person.

[–]Lilcheeks 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its also disgusting if you know the person. I'm just running through all the people I know and imagining them doing that.

[–]dacraftjr 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, but it means you fucked up. Battery is one thing, when you add body fluids (including saliva) it becomes so much more trouble. Battery can be a misdemeanor, assault with body fluids can be a felony.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's what I'm saying to people comparing groping to that. It's more disgusting.

[–]Drinkycrow84 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You sure that’s a girl, mate?

[–]MrMcBuns -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hey now let's calm it down with the straw men ok? I hate people who do this as much as the next guy but let's keep it a fair trial...

[–]DarkSoulsEater -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not even.

If youre a woman calling this shit out, youre still getting attacked.

"Internalized misogyny!" or "Youre just a dude pretending to be a girl!".

Or the more recent example with Cuck Norris. Protecting women by assaulting a woman.

[–]SeaTwertle 24 points25 points26 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Didn’t Katy Perry go crowd surfing and get hella groped?

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It wasn't me.

[–]SeaTwertle 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

👀

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's a Shaggy song. I mentioned it because I'm clueless on Katy. Was it right after her famous ass slip by the pool?

[–]SeaTwertle -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, she was performing with 3OH!3 and tried crowd surfing. It didn’t go very well and she was “helped” by people grabbing her ass.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Just saw the clip and all I see are fans not wanting to grab because she's dressed too scantily then panicking because she is falling head first after that awkward leap. No groping there. If she had walked through them these same people would have touched her arms tops. Nobody can dethrone finger licking lady.

[–]SeaTwertle -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, it’s mostly people trying to keep her from taking a tumble, but in a crowd like that it’s hard to tell.

[–]makattak88 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

IIRC Lady Gaga had this problem.

[–]401LocalsOnly 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn’t mean too! She landed awkwardly on my hands! I was just trying to hold her up! (Is what I’m pleading to the police)

[–]cjattack20599 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not only groped but people tried and maybe have fingered her while she was crowd surfing. I’ve read that her and other female performers would wear multiple layers of spandex or tight clothing to prevent people from doing it in the future.

[+]AidsinCali -59 points-58 points-57 points 7 years ago* (75 children) | Copy Link

Satanic priests are still allowed to rape our kids. That is also in part due to lefties.

[–]TellMeZackit 23 points24 points25 points 7 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Sorry, can you provide verifiable evidence of this? How does it compare to the proven incidences of child rape within the Catholic Church, the shielding of pederasts in The Vatican, and the discover of wider abuse in Christian care facilities of all stripes?

[+]AidsinCali -15 points-14 points-13 points 7 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

The Church has been ran by satanists since the 1450's.

[–]sm1ttysm1t 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

HAHAHAHA

[–]The_name_game 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't think you know what Satanists are. They don't condone rape dude

[–]TellMeZackit 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

WOT? Has the Salvation Army also been run by Satanists? What ARE Satanists if they're all Satanists? Does that mean most Christians in bureaucratic roles are Satanists? I'm fairly certain Anton Lavey didn't diddle kids, though he existed in a time where I would not be at all shocked to find out that he had - in the way that it would make sense for a massive weirdo to have done such a thing, as opposed to multiple organisations that have rested on their laurels of moral superjority while rape, abuse, blackmail and conspiracy have festered (homophobia and racism too) under the surface.

[–]TellMeZackit 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And what do lefties have to do with it? In my country it is ONLY the centre/right candidates who advertise their hardcore religious leanings (usually Catholic) and who are time and time again exposed for corrupt dealings in terms of their relationship to the Church. What does the left have to do with systemic abuse within The Church? Where I'm from 'the left' is the only thing trying to shut it down - the reason why my country is behind other similar countries in investigating abuses here is because the former right wing government stood in its way.

[–]Dio_Landa 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Got evidence for this, boy?

[–]GangGangAndShit 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

[–]AidsinCali -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]Dio_Landa 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Where are satanist raping children? Last time I checked, satanist have a better moral compass than the christians and catholics of this country.

Wtf are you smoking?

[–]hellagreg 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (39 children) | Copy Link

Satan is love, my dude. He doesn't condone rape.

[–]AidsinCali -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

[–]hellagreg 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

They are not. You know it, I know it, Satan knows it.

[–]Dio_Landa 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Clueless people? It is one of their commandments to not rape.

Compared to christians and catholics, they have no commandments that say that, little pathetic on their part, since they do all the children raping.

[–]erutheoneeric 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely was demonized by the media.

"If it was a female celebrity being touched that way the guys would be charged with sexual assault and ridiculed worldwide."

Pastor example proves this hypothetical role reversal not to be true. is this upsetting to you because the leftists didn't ruin this guy's life for this? You wish he had been punished more for his (undeniably inappropriate) hand placement? What punishment would be acceptable?

Also are you trying to say that " the leftists " are the only ones capable of bringing any repercussions down on this guy and that they alone determine his fate?

[–]AidsinCali -4 points-3 points-2 points 7 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

is this upsetting to you because the leftists didn't ruin this guy's life for this?

Yes, I mind. That is the normal response.

Also are you trying to say that " the leftists " are the only ones capable of bringing any repercussions down on this guy and that they alone determine his fate?

I am saying lefties give black criminals a pass due to the race all the time.

The way that pastor who groped Grande was? Oh wait.

[–]FresnoMac 804 points805 points806 points 7 years ago* (65 children) | Copy Link

So I have a friend from Northwestern University who has been engaged in research on the attitudes of sex and consent in elite private college campuses in the USA, and as part of that, she has been interviewing college students about their social life on these campuses i.e, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Dartmouth etcetera.

One of the shocking things that she found out, often from female interviewees, was that when female students were intoxicated with alcohol they would come on men rather aggressively, like walk up to them in the dorm or at a party and just start groping or kissing them and when they resist, they'd simply act like, "What's wrong? Now you're gonna act like you don't want some pussy?"

Often, these guys they turn on to are friends and classmates, and they end up remaining upset for days. And since the general attitude, even today, is that men can't be sexually assaulted by women, neither do these guys complain to campus authorities nor do the girls feel any remorse or regret when they turn sober. They're just like, "Big fucking deal."

The research will come out some time end of this year or start of next year and she says there are a lot of things shocking gender-wise in it.

Just thought this was relevant here.

[–][deleted] 122 points123 points124 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Every time i as a male have been to town to go clubbingg ive been sexually assaulted or groped. I had a women push her breasts on and hanging off me in front of my gf to which pissed us both off and my ass was groped another time women hold their liquor worse then men but whats more insulting is that they don't often have to take responsibility.

Edit

[–]brokencig 34 points35 points36 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So many times girls in bars/clubs will just straight up grab your crotch through your pants without so much as a hello. I remember one time I was at this half packed karaoke bar with my buddy just sitting at a table drinking beer. I was in the middle of a sentence when a girl just straddles me and just starts kissing me. Now I was drunk so I just kind of pushed her face away, looked behind her at my buddy and finished my sentence. As she was still sitting on me I turned to her and asked if I can help her. She tried kissing me again and I just said "Sorry but we're too drunk" to which she took offense. Honestly had she approached me, introduced herself and chatted with me for 2 minutes then I'd be very very happy to make out with her, I'd definitely hesitate to take her home because I really don't want to get MeToo'd but at least introduce yourself and take rejection the same way we do instead of getting mad.

Girls just randomly checking guys sizes in public is a huge problem. I seen it in so many bars and festivals. Some drunk girl will just try to walk around and find the biggest dick she can by assaulting every guy she comes across.

I been the subject and seen it several times yet when you bring it up nobody knows what you are talking about.

[–]brokencig 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My 3 buddies at least know this happens. We were standing outside a club smoking when a girl walked up and grabbed our dicks one by one and said my friend was the biggest.
None of us were pissed off, we just kinda had a big laugh about it and called our friend Big Johnson for the next few weekends.
Usually it's very annoying though and a bit demeaning. Like great you find me attractive enough to fuck you so all of a sudden I'm all yours to do with as you please? But first I should pay for a couple of your drinks, pay for an Uber to get to my place, then provide the condom, and pray the next morning that you didn't regret anything? And then I get called names when I refuse you? Fuck that. I don't mind picking up women at bars but if you're that much of a mess that you will go straight for grabbing a random dude's dick then I definitely don't want anything to do with you that night.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I had a women continue to come up bend over and continue to put her ass and pussy on me grinding away. Very disturbing and they never have to take responsibility they're seen as brqve for acting like that

[–]Evil_Mini_Cake 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

In my experience if you tell male friends that something like this happens they say "oh sure nice problem to have". Um, yeah. Being touched inappropriately without my consent is a big problem. As if men don't have boundaries.

[–]TWeaK1a4 32 points33 points34 points 7 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

This happens and people don't realize it. Two examples:

There was a medical paper about "early onset gender disphoria". That met backlash and was not published. It was thought be transphobic to question the validity/timing/ of teenagers gender beliefs/choices. News story link

Also there was the greater male variability hypothesis Looong article, but excellent in that it details the blocking by womens groups.

Summary: it says males are generally more likely to be on the outer ends of bell-curves than females are. So like very intelligent or very dumb, very fit vs very fat, successful vs homeless, etc. Women are generally towards the middle. It wasn't to put women down. The journal was contacted because the women's group thought it would dissuade women from seeking higher education. Their paper was simply compiling info and stating new explanations. Womens groups protested and it was not allowed to be published at that time.

I was so appalled when I first heard of it that I had to sit down and I haven't read anything else regarding it. You'd think the spread of factual peer-reviewed academic information is a good thing... :/

[–]balloptions 17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

dissuade women from seeking higher education

This is hilarious, because women are already and have been the dominant force in higher education for decades.

[–]TWeaK1a4 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry, it was more like keeping women from higher-"higher education". As in "waaay more top professors are men and waaay more nobel Prize winners are men, so why would women even try?"

The reason for wanting to suppress the publishing was faulty because they interpreted the paper as telling girls, "you're never gonna be the best (like the top male professors) so why even try."

[–]balloptions 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I guess I can see that. Nobel prize winners and ‘top professors’ are generally from STEM fields in which women are still categorically underrepresented.

[–]Saskyle 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Eshmam14 55 points56 points57 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Hmm I keep getting fingered, better just wear another layer.

[–]majaka1234 58 points59 points60 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

It's fucked up for sure. But it's kind of a solution?

I dunno, in a perfect world people wouldn't finger crowd surfing singers but I guess while we live in reality if it helps someone not get sexually assaulted then it sounds like a good idea.

Still, that's fucked, like imagine being like "oh shit I forgot my other six layers of anti rape underwear".

[–]jimbojangles1987 25 points26 points27 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Another solution for her would be to stop doing it. Not saying it's her fault obviously, whoever is doing it is disgusting and needs to be arrested but if she doesn't want to be fingered by strangers then don't do the thing that opens you up to it.

[–]TractionJackson 9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I know right! Everyone saying she should just stop (which I believe she has), when no one is telling Brendon to stop the death walk during his shows.

Edit: I'm not saying he should stop, I'm saying people should stop saying she should stop. Everyone just keep you kisses and fingerbanging to yourselves.

[–]joshicshin 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The comments here are gold. First they claim there’s a massive double standard here between the sexes. Then people give examples of female singers getting harassed and the responses are basically, “Stop doing things that’ll get you assaulted, lol.”

Maybe we should just not touch the performers unless they asked to be touched, regardless of gender.

[–]JungleMuffinPPD's Stupid Fucking Australian -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Idiot.

[–]TheYoungGriffin 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]NormalAndy 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Is Brendon also jumping on crowds of people when he complains that they are touching him up?

[–]JasbrisMcCaw 27 points28 points29 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If I'm at a concert, and I decide to crowd surf, I still don't want peole trying to grab my dick.

If someone is touching my ass holding me up or if I'm face down and a hand is against my dick, I'm not concerned. They're trying to help me, not grope me.

If on the other hand, someone is just trying to rub their hands over me purely to grope, fuck them. How is that acceptable?

[–]NormalAndy 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I don’t like people jumping on my head- but that’s crowd surfing for ya!

[–]JasbrisMcCaw -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is a difference between someone accidentally stepping on you, and intentionally stomping on you.

[–]NormalAndy -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Crowd surfing is no accident! I’m just saying that if someone pokes you in the groin because you are intentionally cursing on their head, it is not the same as a straight unprovoked sexual assault.

Unless you think simply being a celebrity is enticement in itself- I don’t know, perhaps you have a case Harvey.

[–]JasbrisMcCaw 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You've clearly missed my point. If while crowd surfing your accidently groped, not assault. If you're crowd surfing and someone is intentionally groping you just for how it makes them feel, that's assault.

Yeah, no shame in saying Brendon Urie turns me on like a light switch and am a dude but if someone is that gaga about you? They likely damn well know you're happily married & this is an attitude that isn't simply talked out of someone. But the optimist in me says they're probably seriously outnumbered by well adjusted fans and a good-lot of this portion eventually grow out of it with time. Added, going off his stream highlights & Tweets he fields this like a consummate fucking professional where he has every right in my opinion to fly-off but once again? Brendon Urie shows how awesome he is.

[–]MorbidMunchkin 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I never understood why people think it's ok to grab at performances. It's disrespectful at least, and at worst could actually cause injury to the performer or the crowd.

It's one thing to stick your hand up for a high five or something. It's still the performers decision whether they want to engage in physical contact or not. Going all grabby hands is just wrong. Save it for your SO.

It’s really just the Brandon Urie show now. He wrote most of the music and recorded all the instruments from the Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die album to now (I may be somewhat wrong about this, but I know for a fact that he wrote, composed and recorded all the parts to This is Gospel, I’m not sure about the rest). He’s actually an amazing musician. Take a look at the Death of a Bachelor album, most of the songs on there are amazing.

Also, if you’re still looking for some new music and like the alt-rock side of Panic!, check out the Arctic Monkeys (listen to Do I Wanna Know and R U Mine), Hippo Campus (Way it Goes), Young the Giant (Cough Syrup) and Cage the Elephant (Cigarette Daydreams). Good luck and I hope you find some good music!

Been there. Have had my ass grabbed on several occasions when my band performs and I go out in the crowd, including one drunk lady who went "deep" when she grabbed.

Something about interacting directly with the crowd just makes some people feel like they can do whatever they want to you.

I think he’s the only original member left. I saw them twice during the Fever You cent sweat out days and they were a hell of a show.

Never lessened to them afterwards and I don’t remember why. I think because it took so long for another album maybe?

Right? I just remember them from the emo explosion in the early/mid 2000's with all those bands like Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, Underoath, Saosin, etc. ...I feel really old.

[–]mostimprovedpatient 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Panic is a much bigger thing than it was back in the day. Their music is MUCH better than it was.

[–]Volixagarde 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]idlehanz88 19 points20 points21 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I’m clearly old and out of touch

[–]ground__contro1 29 points30 points31 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I completely disagree that their music is better now fwiw. I switch the station when their overplayed songs come on these days.

[–]kasper12 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Do you dislike their music or do you not like that they are overplayed? Cause those are two very different things.

Additionally, in the last 3 years or so they’ve released two albums. Only one song, High Hopes, has been radio raped. And that is far from the best songs on either album.

[–]ground__contro1 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do you dislike their music or do you not like that they are overplayed?

Both.

[+]erasmustookashit -9 points-8 points-7 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The music is bad too, he has sold out HARD. Overproduced pop barely distinguishable from anything else on the radio.

[–]Marc0189 -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That one single out now maybe, but his latest album is actually quite good imo. Has a very upbeat jazzy vibe to it. Lots of big band horns and backing vocals. I love it.

[–]ground__contro1 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wait wait. I didn’t know it had big brass in it. What’s the album called?

[–]Marc0189 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pray for the Wicked

[–]Chung_Soy -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s all up to taste, but their Death of a Bachelor Album has some amazing songs like Don’t Threaten Me with a Good time and LA Devotee. I don’t really know if they are overplayed because I don’t listen to radio too often, but I think that some of their newer stuff way outclasses their old stuff in terms of musical/lyrical complexity and just pure enjoyment.

But I can respect you view nonetheless, I just would like you to take a listen to their most recent albums and the songs on them other than the overplayed ones.

[–]lilmesothelioma 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Swear to shake it up and you swear to listen

[–]destructor_rph 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Kind of... Not really. They've gone completely pop, abandoned any semblance of alternative rock.

[–]PaiMei 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I agree, their latest is kind of a party album. However, so many artists try to keep making the emotional, angst-filled music that worked for them when they were young and angry and hungry, and it often falls flat. Panic! is wildly successful. They've got it made. They made a happy album and it really works. I'm cool with that.

[–]12-1-34-5-2-52335 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He likes to interact with the fans. It’s a normal thing for artists to go down to the fans and give them hugs, high fives, handshakes. He wants to continue to be able to do that with the fans and not punish everyone for the actions of a few. So, instead of stopping the interaction, they’ll remove the offenders.

Same thing happened when he was on Broadway so he stopped going out to do autograph.
Thing is, this guy his empire, and his fans are an enigma to me. He is like so into the pro-lgbt/feminism/safe-space scene. He's a huge champion of love and acceptance. His opening acts are always incredibly vetted from my perspective, to align with his brand. But his empire was founded on a song slut-shaming a bride at her own wedding. And he just gets a pass, the whole crowd digs it. And he's been VERY vocal about people getting in his space, but people just continue to do it. I was at one of his concerts recently and he walked down one row to a piano at the back of the venue. People started crowding the second row thinking he was going to make a circuit and double back. I was worried for him. It's like, if that's really what you [his fans] believe in, why are excluding this guy? I'm just ready for someone to say "if he doesn't want people touching him he shouldn't go in the crowd". God, that will be cathartic when I read that.
All that being said, I've been a panic fan since I was a teen. Bought their first cd when I was kid before it became the Bredan Urie show. Grew my hair long partly so I could snake earbuds up through my shirt and listen to music in study hall. I've been to at least 4 concerts of his now, I'm starting to lose track, and I went to NY just to see him in Pussy Boots. I love Panic! But the fan base is a real piece of work.
a couple of edits because i dont preposition good.

There are already comments here saying “If you don’t want to get assaulted...” go look through them. Funny to hear you say that that song was about slut shaming, I legit always thought she had cheated right before the wedding and was being called a whore because of that. Interesting.

[–]thereallimpnoodle 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it’s moving the goal posts. Women can’t be called whores when they cheat.

[–]OstentatiousSock[S] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I feel it’s pretty justified calling someone a whore when they cheat right before their wedding. Happened to me and I called my husband a whore.

[–]thereallimpnoodle 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh definitely

[–]hoods_breath-1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I say when, not if. But I'm right up there with him. I don't what it is that makes peoples heads fall off. Its Panic! not Magic Mike, y'know? That being said, I had always interpreted the song as though the bride had really gotten around before settling down. If she's cheating on him I don't know how the marriage is saved as the second verse claims. But thinking back to the album it was one of those albums where all the songs blend together, so I wonder if there's something I missed. I think I may have to jam out to it again today. I haven't listened to it front to back in ages. There was also some some stuff in the album art/insert too...

[–]OstentatiousSock[S] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, by that argument, how is the marriage saved by her having slept around a lot?

[–]RM0perator 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I thought the same thing. But I guess this sub has it's own version of refusing sensible self-defense advice and insisting that all bad people should become good people instead. Sure, sure, go ahead and hold your breath until that happens.

[–]ComicWriter2020 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Yep. We should totally not hold bad people accountable for their actions which is exactly what the point of this post was

[–]FountainsOfFluids -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

That's the kind of rampant stupidity that makes this such a difficult conversation to have.

You think punishing a criminal erases the pain that the victims live with? You think that once you've put one person in jail (or kicked them out of a concert) that nobody else will ever repeat the crime?

Nobody said we shouldn't hold people accountable for their actions. But you're a complete fool if you think passing laws and punishing criminals prevents all bad people from doing bad things. Intelligent people address the issue from both sides, both self-defense and law enforcement.

But morons like you and the people voting here always seem to show up and try to shut down conversations about preventative measures. You are idiots.

[–]ComicWriter2020 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I don’t know who you think you are, but your insults aren’t points. Your literally saying it’s pointless to hold people that commit crimes accountable. And unfortunately I can’t go any further with this because the person who started the damn thread deleted his comment so I don’t even remember what the fuck we were talking about. So my only option is to give you a nice reddit gift basket that consists of a fuck you, and goodnight.

[–]FountainsOfFluids -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Your literally saying it’s pointless to hold people that commit crimes accountable.

Again, never said that, never even implied it, and actually said the opposite.

Here it is again for the reading impaired:

Intelligent people address the issue from both sides, both self-defense and law enforcement.

And fuck you for all of the idiots in the world you represent, who keep putting words in the mouths of people who want to take their own safety seriously to make it look like they are victim blamers. Fuck you and all the harm people like you allow to happen by shutting down rational conversations. You make the world a dumber place.

[–]ComicWriter2020 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You threw insults with your response. That’s not really a rational conversation is it?

[–]FountainsOfFluids -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, my original comment was not throwing insults. But you would be stupid enough to interpret it that way. Because you think creating rules will solve all problems, and that people shouldn't ever exercise caution because that's victim blaming.

For you, it never had the possibility of being a rational conversation, because you entered it with an irrational mind, as proven by your very fist idiotic comment.

[–]ComicWriter2020 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I was referring to your response to me actually. I didn’t interpret anything as anything. I called out what you did. Nothing I have said is even related to victim blaming, your just one of those idiots that throws anti sjw terms not understanding the actual definitions. I’m done here

[–]FountainsOfFluids 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your first comment literally put words in my mouth. You made it very clear how irrational you are right from the start. If you don't want people to come back at you with anger, then don't assume things they didn't say. That's a good start.

If you honestly thought that I was an insane person who was saying "We should totally not hold bad people accountable for their actions" then you could easily have said "Wait, are you implying that..."

But no, you thought you knew what I meant, because you (and many others) are fucking nutbars who think that suggesting caution and self-defense measures is the same thing as abolishing law and order.

And now that you are faced with how stupid your comments were, you have to resort to "You're a mean person who said bad things about me, and that makes you wrong!"

But please, keep lecturing me about how rational conversations are supposed to go.

That band fucking sucks! I wouldn’t want anyone who’s a fan of that band touching me or being anywhere near me. If he wants it to stop he should quit making shitty music!

To be fair, no one really wants to touch you anyway.

He didn't really start very strong, to be fair.

What’s wrong with you?

[–]Eshmam14 9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I think that reason is that you're retarded.

Okay man, I acknowledge your opinion. However, I do not respect it and you are very obviously wrong. Trying to change your mind from such an extreme depth is going to be nearly impossible.

I don’t think that his opinion is even deserving of acknowledgement. That’s the same train of thought rapists and sexual assaulters have when attacking a woman. “She’s at the club, dressed to please, I’m not doing anything wrong by having my way with her even if she doesn’t want it. She was asking for it”. It’s disgusting and for some reason, society is completely fine with allowing this type of thinking as long as the victim is male.

Acknowledging this guys argument as an actual stance instead of the thinking of a immature predator gives him some ground to stand on where there should be fire.

[–]Eshmam14 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are misunderstanding the discrepancy between acknowledging and understanding. Acknowledging means I am fully aware of his opinion and am in terms with the fact that some people do think like that. But why they think like that is beyond me because they're past the point of logical reason.

Oh ok. So his human rights deserve to get violated is what your saying? Pretty dumb reasoning my guy. Maybe sleep a bit then come back and edit your comment.

Oh and they paid for the performance. Not to sexually assault someone.

How do they leaned right? I lean left and I am here.

Are you some kind of pervert?

[–]Chung_Soy 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don’t think you need any particular political stance to acknowledge that sexual assault and assault in general is wrong. You just need to be an asshole to think it’s right.
