Yeah, this is pretty enraging.

The worst part? The child's going to be abused (obviously already has been), and is going to grow up just as bad as her parents. She has little chance of growing into a healthy adult human being.

It enrages me that people like this exist and there are times when the phrase 'let the punishment fit the crime' sounds really appealing. When people ask what is wrong with kids / young adults today. In my opinion: This is part of the reason. When you have a parent that flies off the handle like this that is seen as an important figure in the eyes of their kids, as someone they want to emulate, this is partially responsible for some of the crap happening today.

I can't think of a worse way to handle a situation. I think I'm entitled to some money. Oh, you don't want to give it to me?! I'm going to kill our infant child and broadcast it! (that will show him).

The cops should have arrested her, sat her down cuffed to a chair at the station, and just stared at her for 5 minutes without saying a word. Then asked her WTF is wrong with you? She should not get the kid back. And this would be a very rare instance of when I would be all for forced sterilization. If she's willing to take an infant life over what couldn't be much money, just imagine what she would do if she was really upset.
