In addition, men may be more emotionally dependent on their romantic partners and have fewer alternative sources of support. When asked who they would turn to first if they were feeling depressed, 71 percent of men selected their wives. whereas only 39 percent of women selected their husband (author’s calculations from the General Social Survey, 1972-2012). Married women may maintain a more diverse network of emotional support than married men, and this non-spousal support is important during a separation. That isn’t to say that men don’t have friends or family, but they may be less accustomed to seeking or receiving non-spousal emotional support.

Many women, especially widows, but also divorced women with children, don’t want a second go at marriage (Lampard 1999; Davidson 2001). Previously married women often associate marriage with increased care obligations and reduced freedom whereas men may miss the material and emotional care they received from their spouse—on average, men may be more emotionally dependent on their spouses, which would make remarriage more desirable.

I just read a post from a dude crying that he can't get over his first love from SIX YEARS AGO. Because she "made him feel cared for' and he 'doesn't want to go back to the chaos' of being single.

So he's run through multiple women he's found dissatisfactory at coddling him since.

My abusive ex broke up with me because he had been cheating and wanted to keep sleeping around. At this point I was just DONE. After about a month I met an amazing man (who I would later marry) and started dating him. My new boyfriend and I went to a convention together with some of my friends and my ex was there staying with some our mutual friends.

He had a total breakdown after seeing me with my new boyfriend. I had knocked on the hotel door because I wanted to see MY friends that were MY FRIENDS before I ever started dating my ex and he just happened to answer the door. My one friend who booked the room gave me permission to come over and visit. Up until this point my ex had insisted everything was fine and he was the one who broke up with me after all. He had also been sleeping with someone in that hotel room anyway.

He had a total meltdown when he answered that door. Full blown crying and screaming (while dressed as a sexy maid btw) and accused me of just trying to hurt him??? And some of his shitty ass friends defended him and said I was major c*nt for coming to the room at all???

I was LIVID! My ex I guess just totally broke down mentally because I had moved on and was a total wreck for months and even cried about "how could I move on so quickly" even though he was actively dating and fucking other women???

He even had a total breakdown at his brother's wedding because they played a song I love when his sister-in-law walked down the aisle. He got so drunk that his own grandpa punched him for acting up (and also for breaking up with me since his grandpa loved me) and would later jump and cry in the fountain in this CRAZY expensive wedding venue.

Meanwhile I just was living my best life with my new and good man.

Because men rely on women to take care of them: physically, mentally, and sexually. When she dumps and leaves him, he struggles to function as a basic adult: he doesn't know how to do laundry, grocery shop, and is too lazy to make a real dinner.

Women become happier because the burden of a man child is finally off their shoulders!
