It's simple. These are the PROVEN false accusations.

For contrast, only 2.17% of reported rape accusations are proven true.

So, when reported rape accusations are 5 times as likely to be proven false as they are to be proven true... it paints quite a different picture... doesn't it?

I usually say the problem isn't completely with the false allegation, it is that you never recover and there are no punishments for the accuser. If you are accused your life is ruined, you can't do anything without people thinking that you did something because the mob spreads it everywhere before you are tried. And even when the person explicitly says that it was a lie, meaning THEY LITERALLY FUCKING ADMITTED TO IT, nothing happens and it is dismissed. It is bullshit, and if that didn't happen it would be better. But there is also the problem with the presumption of innocence. As bad as it sounds, you have to disbelieve both sides to a certain extent in order to give a fair trial. If the mob had to go by this too, there wouldn't be any problems. And I don't say that as in "don't believe anyone who brings something up" I say it as in we need to gather all the evidence and not throw someone in jail and condemn them on an accusation that may be proven false.

A great story about the impact of false rape allegations is Shawn Oakman for Baylor university. He was a predicted first round draft pick into the nfl and had his whole life turned upside down when a female student accused him of rape, he was later acquitted of the charges yet he missed out on the millions that could of changed his life and his families for generations to come.

Where is this mans financial compensation?

Error, only 2 to 10% are proven to be false (The victims of a false rape claim doesn't always goes against the accusers).

Then, ¿How can we know how many false rape reports are made? Conviction rates, which is less than 5% in UK, we can't assume that the 95% are all guilty, neither that they're all innocent, so let's split it 50/50, 43% guilty, 42% innocent.

Considering that the harm done by a liar is as serious or more so than a rape, this line about "rather defend a liar" is ignorant and malicious.

Statistically, the odds of you going to jail for a rape you did not commit are probably lower than being struck by lightning. I bet that's true.

But the social repercussions of being accused of a crime you did not commit are very real. Thats the point of contention.

Anyone worried they will be jailed is exaggerating. Anyone worried they will be alienated from friends and family is rightfully nervous.

90 percent of rape cases, there is no concrete evidence either way. So people tend to just believe the more believable person. It's not a great system, but what other system is there? That's how all of society works.

What corrections could be made to our system as to that it is more fair for those that we don't know if they are guilty or innocent? The state can't lock them up but are people not entitled to make their decision regarding innocence or guilt and respond accordingly?

Divide 5.1 billion by 6,750, and therefore, in Clymer’s words “the odds of any sexually-active male between the ages of 15 and 39 has a 750,000 to 1 chance of being falsely accused of rape”

And, he goes on to say, 1/33 men are raped during their lifetime. Therefore, the average man has a 27500x higher chance of being raped than being falsely accused of rape. The average man has a 1 in 84,079 chance of being killed by lightning, so that’s 32x more likely than getting falsely accused of rape. And it adds that the average women has a 1/4 chance of being raped during her lifetime – so the odds of a woman being raped during her lifetime must be 220000x higher than the odds of a man being falsely accused of rape.

Did you spot the sleight of hand in those calculations? He calculated the odds of a man who has sex 99 times per year for 24 years being accused of rape per sex act, and then declared this was the odds of being accused of rape in your lifetime. Then he went on to compare it to various other lifetime odds, like the lifetime odds of being raped, the lifetime odds of being struck by lightning, et cetera.

To highlight exactly how awful this is, suppose we wanted to trivialize rape itself through the same methodology. The average woman, as per the article’s statistics, has a 1/4 chance of getting raped during her lifetime, which means a 1/9500 or so chance of getting raped per sex act if she has sex 99 times per year from ages 15-39. And looking at the same list of statistically unlikely things provided on that article, that’s less than the odds of dying in a plane crash (1/7032). So you crow “THE AVERAGE WOMAN IS LESS LIKELY TO GET RAPED THAN TO DIE IN A PLANE CRASH! HA HA WOMEN ARE SO DUMB TO EVER WORRY ABOUT RAPE!”. And now you have a Buzzfeed article.

The original survey that threw up the 2% to 8% figure was saying that was the minimum amount not the maximum. They couldn't give a definitive maximum number.

Bizarrely it is feminists that appear to want women to not report rape. Why else would they lie about the odds on a rapist being convicted. A policeman has just been charged with rape in the UK (Not the one that murdered the girl in London ) and feminists were falling over themselves to say he has only a 3% chance of doing time for it. The 3% figure includes not reported to the police and not progressed. Something they never mention. The fact is once this man gets to court he has over a 60% chance of being found guilty, amongst some of the highest rates of conviction of all crime classifications. Feminists have spent a lot of time and energy making sure women think if they report a rape and go through the undoubted trauma of giving evidence in court, there is only a 3% chance of him being found guilty. As I say, once at court the odds on a guilty verdict are over 60%
