Short answer: we don't live in a rape culture.

Long answer (yeah, 1 hour of video):

Trying to summarize what I remember:

historically, the rates of rape are lower than ever or than in most other countries
socially, rape is considered to be one of the most abhorrent crime, on the level of murder

Talking about the whole society as being a "rape culture" doesn't make sense in that regard.

Rape culture is a myth. If we had a rape culture, it would be praised and accepted. Most people don't accept or approve of rape.

I think the problem comes from things like this:

A woman goesout with a man, he tries to kiss her without asking... and they call that sexual assault. (Yes...if he keeps going... it's wrong)
Men appreciating a woman's body... is twisted into saying men objectify women. (Yes some men objectify women)
A man compliments a woman... well, surely that must be sexual. (Can't that just be a compliment)
Sadly, the false accusations. A woman regrets a sexual encounter.... some women will make others believe it was coerced.
Taking innocent songs and perpetuating the myth that it's promoting rape ("Baby It's Cold Outside")

***this is not to discount actual sexual assaults.

Table 2.1 on p. 18 shows that 1.27 million women reported being raped in a 12-month period. Table 2.2 on p. 19 shows that 1.267 million men reported being made to penetrate in a 12-month period.

And here from p. 24: “For three of the other forms of sexual violence, a majority of male victims reported only female perpetrators: being made to penetrate (79.2%), sexual coercion (83.6%), and unwanted sexual contact (53.1%).”

So being made to penetrate someone else is a form of sexual violence, equal in frequency to rape, and most of the time women are the perpetrators.

Hey guys I can't tell if rape culture is a myth or not.

It a feminist abstraction on the world, it's feminist canon, just like the patriarchy.

Rape is highly illegal and in some cases punished worse them murder.

The concept has no stake in reality and never has. It's an expression of the feminist hatred of men.

Feminism has subtly redefined rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment over the past few decades. Definitions also change depending on what country you live in and what school you go to. It's no wonder young men are utterly and helplessly confused. But we're slowly starting to realize the truth of it all.

These women have painted themselves in a corner and all they can do now is to double down and try to classify anything and everything that a woman wants to call rape, as rape, because rape is the topic that culture says people shouldn't ever question.

In other words - rape culture exists because women NEED it to exist because it is one of the few conduits of unquestioned power they still have - and most men are still too stupid or too afraid to realize they're being manipulated and controlled by it.

At this point, we're all familiar with the unfortunate truth that if an ugly guy touches a girl, she'll likely view it as creepy at best and rape at worst, but if an attractive guy does it, it's highly desired, pro-social flirtation. This double standard is only aiding in breaking fundamental trust between men and women and societal stability and unfortunately, few to no female allies are ever going to call other women out on it.

There are legit instances of rape but unfortunately, female power players abused this trust and now every claim is in question - which women hate - they hate when you think critically about this. This robs them of their power over you.

Accept the reality of the situation, educate yourself, spread the knowledge, and play the game smart.

The problem with ‘rape culture’ at least to me is that a portion of average stable people would not endorse the act of rape. Convicted rapists are outcast from society and slandered in the media, to say we live in a rape culture would mean society doesn’t treat a rapist this way and I don’t see that.

Do rapes happen? Yes but then again historically in every society they do. Is it as prevalent as feminazis would have you believe? Oh hell no! The number they've been claiming lately is 97% but nobody can seem to find the statistics confirming that, how convenient! The UN did a survey claiming 71% but remember that survey includes countries in war zones where rape is even more common than that, which brings the average number of rapes worldwide up dramatically. If they are claiming 71% of women in Western 1st world countries have been raped, that is an outright self-serving lie based on a biased feminist agenda. Also the concept that automatically every woman claiming to have been raped is telling the truth is disengenuus.

They define the term "unfounded report" to refer to both false and baseless accusations, accusations where no rape has occurred. They use information from 3 surveys to narrow down the rate of unfounded reports as between 2-10% of reported rapes.

There is still the question of whether or not the same % of unreported rapes are also false. The reason we can't answer this question is unreported rapes are never investigated, so we can't know what the rate is.

Encouraging reporting, imo, would lower the rate of false reports since now the stakes are much higher for the person reporting (if its false, they get in trouble). Again, my thought is that encouraging reporting would actually lower the rate of false accusations because the stakes are much higher for false reports to police versus an unreported claim that would be believed by say family and friends without any investigation.

Rape culture is real. Just imagine married to someone you're not attracted to, don't even know. Here in India I do believe many women are forcefully married to guys because their fathers said so. It is just legal rape in my opinion. But more people are getting educated so the world is a better place for women rn. It a worse place for men tbh!

If you want to have less false accusations (and less rape), then we need to fully fund full investigations of rape accusations, regardless of who is involved. Right now, the vast majority of them get a cursory investigation and the nothing at all happens. If it's a false accusation, nothing happens because there is no evidence because there is no real investigation. If it is a real rape, nothing happens because there is no evidence because there is no real investigation.

In that context, the number one group that is raped in society that doesn't come forward is men. I think they should be encouraged to come forward, if they are comfortable. If you don't have the same fear of men suddenly engaging in false accusations to, I'd question your premise.

Encouraging people to come forward and having a process that gets to the truth would be a gamechanger in good ways. Predators of all stripes react to enforcement or lack thereof by committing more crimes.

I know 4 girls who are very close to me who got raped (my mother, girlfriend, ex-girlfriend, former band mate). None of them told the police.

So it’s a problem, yeah. But to say there is a ‘rape culture’ doesn’t make any sense.

Rape is considered one of the worst things you can do. It’s illegal, and it will ruin your life if you are found guilty of doing it. If there was a ‘rape culture’ that would not be the case.

The problem is IMO that women feel so bad about it and they just want to let a traumatic experience go. I don’t think there’s anything that we as men can do about it.

Rape culture is that kind of blanket term that can be used to supplement any kind of gendered argument. Even MRA can use it.

For example : rape culture is about how the consent of men is always considerated as less important, if at all, than the consent of women. This creates a society where some men can't understand the notion of consent because nobody ever respected theirs.

Is a weird one for me because it’s generally been women who complain about it yet also women who say men can’t say no, add on top of that the fact that a woman made the legal understanding to be unwanted penetration.

Not saying all women are bad or like this but there’s enough out there to make life miserable.

If 68% isn't reported, how do they know it's 68%? They make estimations and gross assumptions, but they also said outrageous numbers for pay gap and we all know how that ended up. It's a matter of trusting their estimations or telling them to fuck off.
