Yeah in the UK it’s illegal to count tips towards a wage income (based on employers perspective) so all legit jobs need to pay the national minimum wage.
You’ll still possibly get tips on top of that but generally in the UK people only tip for servers who go out of their way for good service

If im waiting tables, say 10 of them per hour on a busier night, and they all tip 5-10$ respectably, thats 50-100$ in one hour. Again, if you work a full hour as a server and you walk away with 5$, youre doing something wrong.
Big If that they all tip you $5, and that the tips arent shared amongst all wait staff, as I have seen happen.
So yes getting $5 plus tips is better, if you can expect to have a good night/week. however on a bad week, getting $5 an hour is worse than not turning up to work at all

I don't know of any other country in the world, (maybe because I'm ignorant) that requires staff to live off their tips.
In the UK at least, there is a legal minimum wage, it doesn't matter what happens on the job, you work it, you get paid the hours. Somehow, in America, companies are allowed to cut the wages of staff because theyre /expected/ to get tips. I don't know anywhere else where tips are a requirement because companies can skirt goverment set minimum wages.
Like I said, this may be my ignorance, but I've never /had/ to tip to make sure someone gets bread on their table.

You can see here the rates of pay in Canada, the tipped minimum wage is only in some provinces, and the largest difference is $9.80 Tipped Min & $12 General mininmum wage, whilst you are correct, the least you can pay a server in the US is $2.13, the general minimum wage is $7.25, you earn just over a quarter of the minimum wage, while you are correct that Canada has a tipped minimum wage, the difference is negligle and actually possible to make up in tips where-as in the US you'd have to get tipped at least $5 an hour, but you shouldn't really have to either, Canada is a terrible example.
The least you can pay a server in Canada is the same amount as the law requires you to pay someone in the US for any other job that doesn't rely on tips.

Newer cars are averaging 50 miles to the gallon. 1 gallon is approximately £6.50. Therefore anything less than a 7.5 mile round trip is in the profit really. Generally takeaway drivers wouldn’t travel too far so it probably works out a plus on average.
Edit: £1 per delivery is based on my friend doing it like 8 years ago so it’s probably increased since. That was with a local independent pizza place. Chain ones like dominoes have their own fleet of cars you use.
