i work in a male dominated, blue collar field that is heavy with physical labor.

i enjoy it. it pays well, every day is different, the work is incredibly independent, and i can bring my dog along some days. i don’t sit at a desk all day, i don’t deal with the public or a pile of random coworkers, i don’t have to go to dumb fucking meetings or be tethered to a computer or phone.

there are downsides, of course- it’s hot, dirty, hard on the body. but i personally would choose it every time over sitting at a computer all day everyday

What exactly is the premise of your post?

Most men don’t want physical jobs and most do not have them. Some do.

Most women do not want physical jobs and do not have them. Some do.

One agenda media is pushing with all these strong and physical women in movies, is getting women to enter physically demanidng work force or spaces

Are you imagining there’s an agenda to get all women into these jobs? Most women? I’m unclear where you’re getting this idea.

But my problem with that is, they have the entire plate of social and less physically demanding workforce on their side. I find it hard to believe women want to leave that, relatively easier, mostly office, air conditioned, 'cushy' workspace or even social media, tik tok e.t.c to go hang out with men in the muds, via construction, MMA or the army.

The majority of nurses, carers, cleaners and vets are women - all can be very physically demanding roles, involving blood, shit and other bodily excretions. The majority of special education needs teachers are also women, and from knowing people in the field that can also come with its own share of physical demands and exposure to bodily fluids.

They also make up the majority of retail workers/customer service workers and servers - all which involve standing for long hours on end, often putting up with abuse from the public.

There are significantly more care workers than there are construction workers. There are significantly more nurses than there are construction workers.

I personally don't want to be a nurse, or a carer, or in construction. However obviously many, many people do and this is not at all limited to men. Hundreds of thousands of women do physically gruelling, messy and demanding jobs. Like men, sometimes it's because it's what they actively want to do, and also like men sometimes it's because it's the only job they can find. So why wouldn't want to do the jobs that are typically in the male sphere, since they typically pay more? If I had to choose I'd certainly pick construction "in the mud" over care work and dealing with poo, particularly since it's generally paid more.

I can't sit at a desk. Work for me I love is constant motion, and doing something that I can see.

When I was a kid girls didn't take shop classes. If I had no doubt I would have gone into the trades. Instead, I apprenticed as a pet groomer, which was a good job for me, but not as fun as house painting for instance, also doesn't pay as well.

Women are not all the same people, lots of women are attracted to traditionally masculine careers.

I like my cushy corporate job but I know women who can't sit still and hate theirs and they've gone on to do things that require being on their feet and working.

I know guys who love the 9-5 desk job with wfh and guys who can't stand it

The best thing is to let everyone do what they want without sticking a label into it. Men can want to be nurses. Women can want to be fire fighters. So as long as they pass the same requirements bar who cares?

So long as violence is something that's portrayed, women should be portrayed as capable of it. Presenting men and not women as violent keeps up narratives that women are weak and good targets, and that has serious consequences. Every woman, like every man should be taught that she's capable of defending herself and given the practical skills to do so, and the same goes for other physical tasks that are required for independence. It does nobody any good to keep them out of this sphere. Many men and women enjoy physical work and find it fulfilling (it's okay if you don't) and in many ways it's easier than other kinds of work. Seeing how active men and women are relative to each other outside of work would raise doubts as to whether one enjoys it much more than the other. Indeed, many very physical jobs are female dominated, usually if they involve caring for people or anything that could be called "arts and crafts". Women like moving around and using their bodies as much as men, even if their bodies are a bit different. (Which means they have advantages as well as disadvantages. With regards to your Korean show, women are better on average at shooting than men, which is perhaps why more women are wanted there. Or maybe it's just entertainment.) There's no point in segregating workspaces except in very specific scenarios, some men and women like to do desk jobs, some to work with people, some to work with their bodies and others a combination and all should stay available.

I practice and teach jiu jitsu. I look up to women who are successful in MMA. For a long time, I wanted to be a police detective, but due to disability didn't go down that path. (Sans disability, I absolutely would have) and when I was a little girl, I wanted to be a firefighter. I've always looked up to warrior cultures that included women.

I'm a very girly woman in many ways, but no, I don't think physical capability is the pure realm of men. And yes, I very much enjoy women being action film stars and find it very inspirational.

Men forget, if you raise your women weak, that's who will raise your children, both sons and daughters especially in your absence. It is very ideal for your lady to be at least as lethal as you, if not more so that way your home and children are always safer.

First of all, I’ve spent most of my life in Russia, so my experienced is based on Russian society and working culture.

Personally I have certain health limitations that aren’t ideal for any physically demanding job. So I’ve never considered these options and my preference for an office job is strongly affected by my body. But I also have women in my family and immediate social circle who either had or still have jobs that one wouldn’t consider as “female” jobs. For example, my aunt is a farmer, she and her daughter take care of multiple cows and an enormous farm on their own.

There are lots of women who already do physically demanding and generally “female” jobs that are often also paid less. Small shops often have female cashiers unload the items and put them on the shelves, farming and gardening can be extremely taxing on one’s body, nurses often have to lift heavy patients, there are female police officers, school cooks lift enormous pots where they cook food for a while school etc. I’d say that even cleaning for money is for physically strong people and lots of women do it.

So seeing representation of women who aren’t SAHMs or office workers is a good thing. I might not always like the way they are represented, I’d want to see something more realistic and well-thought, but widening the way we view women in the society is a good thing. It helps women who already do or only plan to get into these fields.

At the moment punchy kicky boom boom is what dominates the box office and gets endless sequels so everyone's going to want a piece of the representation pie in that.

Maybe you're leaning on a pretty profound point on why our society likes to consume violence so much and aren't turning out in the same number for romantic comedies and deep, thoughtful dramas. The way to do that isn't singling out a single demographic for wanting to be seen and acknowledged and shit.
