I don’t think there’s any correlation between attractiveness or success and cheating, other than it perhaps increasing the opportunity.

You’re looking at this wrong though - cheats cheat, men who value fidelity don’t - lots of attractive and successful men are faithful, lots of unsuccessful and downright unattractive guys are cheaters.

I would think the biggest sign that anyone would cheat is being in an unhappy relationship, or one they feel they need escape from. This could be due to genuine problems - eg dead bedroom, financial strain, incompatibility, mental health problems and so on, and a complicating factor like culture/religion, social fallout, children or fear of financial ruin which makes divorce or breakup impractical.

Some men also have very poor self control and that's why they do it.

It could also be due to internal dissatisfaction, for example, if a man isn't happy no matter what. A man who isn't quite sure what he wants or what would make him happy and is simply living out a 'life script' is probably also more likely to cheat. I think some men (especially the driven ambitious ones) fall in this trap - they're just reaching for "more" but they have no idea what makes them happy. They marry someone but for the wrong reasons, and of course that doesn't make them happy. These men will lie to themselves and to you.

I also think most successful men have worked out that it is far easier to simply date a bevy of women in short term polyamorous relationships ("Spinning plates") and never commit, and hence never cheat. Can't cheat if you never have an arrangement of exclusivity... So for the most part you don't have to worry about this. If they have a lot of money it's very easy for men to do this. Most men are quite up front with what they want and will literally tell you what they are looking for. Likewise, some men will marry but also give hints that they will not be loyal (eg, spending a lot of time partying without the wife/gf, going to strip clubs, etc.). Some women accept that for a financially easy life, or prefer to lie to themselves and pretend their husband is loyal but never ask questions about what he does or why.

Then there are dark triad men, who basically have few or no morals. There are a few reasons why such a man would want a marriage - to blend in, to gain status, to gain respectability, to start a family. They will do their best to knowingly lie to you. The only way to catch them out is through long term vetting - seeing if they have genuine moral character, keep their word, etc.

If you can understand why a man would do it, you can think of vetting strategies or behaviours to look for that would filter such men out.

There’s really no way to know for sure if someone will cheat. Unfortunately a lot of people cheat, both men and women.

Some red flags are if he has friends who cheat he will be more likely to cheat, if he has a history of cheating in the past, obsessed with porn/strippers, or if he has a lot of female friends. If he just has loose morals in general that’s a good sign he will be more inclined to commit infidelity

I don’t think a man being attractive means he will cheat and frankly a lot of ugly, broke men cheat. A lot of times a man elevates his status when he acquires a partner and it makes him more attractive simply because he has a woman out of his league.

So you should not avoid attractive, successful men out of fear they will cheat. It is much worse to be cheated on by someone you had to lower your standards for.

Yes, there was a study that confirmed that. You can look it up. The more successful the more partners they had. The only truly monogamous men are the low smv men that somehow got into a relationship with someone better, it's not that they won't cheat it's just that they can't cheat.

There is no correlation between a man being attractive and successful and cheating.

The correlation is people who are attractive and especially those that have a lot of money and power are more likely to be more narcissistic. Self absorbed people are definitely more likely to cheat. Thats why there are a lot of trashy unattractive men and women who are self absorbed and narcissistic and obsessed with social media that cheat too.

Cheaters have been ugly, attractive, successful, broke, and all combinations thereof. It's easier to point out signs a man may cheat than signs he won't, so here's a possible list:

1. He previously cheated in any relationship

Once a cheater, always a cheater. Doubly so if he's cheated on a particular relationship - he assuredly will again if given the chance.

2. His friends are cheaters

We become the people we choose to hang around, and we choose to hang around the kind of people we consider acceptable.

3. His father was a cheater

This is less of a guarantee of becoming a cheater than the above, but it is an important red flag. We learn our first standards from our parents. Only an adult who has completely broken away from the nest, physically and mentally, will be able to overcome that imprinting.

4. At any point, he says he wants an open relationship

Caveat: This is not talking about someone who begins by dating non-exclusively with the intention of proceeding to exclusivity within short order.

If at any point a man says he only wants an open relationship, or asks to try an open relationship, or says he wants an open relationship temporarily, or suggests some level of official relationship be non-exclusive until engagement/marriage/some other benchmark, even if he later asserts he has changed his mind, he has revealed he does not truly want to commit exclusively to the woman he is with. Whether he is willing to admit that fully or not. Since he knows what he wants (other women) and he knows he doesn't want to exclusively commit to the woman he is with, he will very easily justify acting on his desires as long as he can "get away with it".

5. He has a liberal definition of what's "not cheating"

"Making out isn't cheating." "Sexting isn't cheating." ""Getting dancers isn't cheating. " If he at any point says something like that, either because he's defending his own behavior (past or present), defending someone else, or just making a comment, his open-minded definition of not-cheating signals he's uninterested in protecting the fidelity of an exclusive relationship and is more likely to find justification to go all the way.

6. He makes approving statements about cheaters

Caveat: This does not include casual statements about the one who got cheated on, like "I understand why he/she left them" or "Of course acting like that drives away your girlfriend/boyfriend, what did they expect?". Sometimes victims really are lying in a bed they made and observing this is not a sign they think the cheater themselves made a good decision either.

This is about comments made about cheaters themselves. A HV man with frame says, "Why would any guy cheat? He should break up or be upfront if he isn't going to be exclusive." A LV man with a scarcity mindset says "Why are you judging him for cheating? You don't know his life." Hiding a relationship is LV behavior, and even TRP advises being open with plates that they aren't the only one. A man defending a cheater's actions is admitting he has the mindset to justify himself cheating.

7. He accuses his partner of cheating when they aren't

Caveat: I've witnessed women be in deep denial that they are engaging in branch-swinging behavior (currying favor and attention from men they see as potential replacements for their current relationship while being unwilling to end the current relationship before looking) or keeping orbiters (currying favor and attention from men they have no attention of becoming romantic with, but provide emotional validation and ego-stroking). Branch-swinging preparation and keeping orbiters around will draw a men's ire justifiably, and may reasonably cause him to suspect even worse behavior.

Besides that caveat which may make this sign difficult for a woman to reliably use, very frequently someone who is accusatory or overly suspicious when there is genuinely no reason to be is themselves a cheater. Cheaters think everyone else cheats - similar to how honest people will assume most people are honest.
